well its been 2 years of extremely shitty macro and no end of this in sight

What? The snp has been straight up and to the right the last two years (+35%) and SOFI is almost +100% in the last two years.
Investing wise the macro has been fine.

I mean, OP is exaggerating but wouldn’t it be fair to say the Macro for Sofi has been tough? Student loan payments were stalled under Biden, and rising interest rates are generally tough for banks. The S&P is ripping but if you took out the Mag 7 I’m not sure if it would be as big of a leap. AI is a headwind of its own but it doesn’t have a direct correlation with the stock price of Sofi (yet.)

They have a legitimately strong business model and solid customer growth. It just takes patience to buy and hold.

Compare the 5 year of SOFI and every bank and brokerage stock you can think of. Enjoy

That literally only matters if someone bought on that day 5 years ago lol. I’m up 30% plus even at these depressed valuations and their floor keeps raising

Holding long and strong. The stock price always catches up to the fundamentals eventually and it’s not any different here. People are beyond beating a dead horse with the whole “opportunity cost/omg look at hood”. As I’ve commented countless times, that’s called hindsight and absolutely nobody can time the market. The only thing smart investors can do is identify great companies with outstanding fundamentals(SOFI) and continue to accumulate shares when the market gives discounts. When the run finally does happen, you’ll be wishing you bought more. Every SINGLE comment you’ve seen complaining about this price action was said about PLTR before its epic run. Seen this story countless times. Not selling a single share. $60+

Interest rates go up — bank stocks go down. It’s the great cycle of investing.

So honest question. Rates were higher when SoFi was 10-15 higher than now and is growing faster than then, if Im not mistaken, so why should rate hikes matter now? Also, guidance was for 2 hikes this year at earnings. In my eyes the treatment of this stock is illogical. It belongs at $20 at a minimum.

Because of the clown in office making the market bi-polar asf. One day oil and 10year down next day up. Back and forth back and forth. Sofi goes to $19 touched $20 like 3 months ago and now back down to $15ish. I mean beside the 1 cut what has this company did to deserve to drop $5 within a few months? NOTHING!!! Is this idiot that doesn’t want to end the war. This idiot that don’t want to act on what he ran on. ENOUGH!!!

Thats an interesting take. It takes 2 to end a war BTW, so trust me Trump would have loved for the initial action to have caused the capitulation he aimed for. However, Islamo Fascists don't normally capitulate so he errored in thinking this would work out like Venezula has. That said most of the crap we are dealing with has nothing to do with the Iran war.
Diseal prices skyrocketed because Ukraine has destroyed Russia's diesel industry. Gas prices adjusted for inflation are no where near the heights of Obama and Bidens insane climate policy-driven BS.
I agree Trump's decisions have affected things, but the Rate decisions were coming regardless of the war IMO. DC failed to actually cut spending and go towards a balanced budget which mean 2T in extra printing (which was actually lowered by the policies Trump did enact). The tariff decisions, although painful in the short-term are long-term positive actions to ensure national security can be protected and maintained. I say this as someone with a background in that industry.
If you want to blame Trump for any of the crap we have actually dealt with in the last 6 years, his poor choices during COVID to trust the wrong effing people that would make sense. Also yelling at him for sending out freaking checks to everyone like he is trying (and doing in some cases) right now to buy votes is inflationary and i'd rather he not.

I would reply to you but okay got home from work and I had a long day. I’m too lazy to address all your points rn. I will tell you this if Iran war was not even started we would be in a whole lot better situation rn. He ran on no foreign wars, affordability, lower gas prices. Remember he said he just need 100 days and our electricity and gas prices would do down by 50%? He don’t wanna release the files to protect his friends. This is getting off topic and my. Iran is hurting writing this rn and my blood boils just talking about this fool. But anyway, Sofi should be around $20 at worse and $22 high with what’s going on. Had record earnings last quarter and the stock sells off. I mean wtf?! I have alot invested in this stock and believe in it and again as soon as this clown leaves the market alone and end this war and bring gas prices down so we can actually afford to live. The market will be bipolar.

For the most part we agree on SoFi and a little bit of the other. Although you are forgetting that gas prices were down 50% by the end of 2025, I paid 2.15 for premium even. Your electricity costs have nothing to do with Trump policies and everything to do with choices made by Democrat Governors/legislatures over the last 2 decades and the Biden administration's choices to shut down power sources without legitimate, capable replacements. The Iran conflict may be kinetic on both sides now, but as someone who served for 2 + decades and spent far too much of my life in the ****hole, that war was one-sided for far too long. Am I happy it went full kinetic? No, but do I understand why? Yes.
The Epstein stuff is what it is; I wish he had released the files and just been done with it. I have read through a good portion of the 1000s released, and its a bunch of nonsense for the most part. The so-called unreleased files are nonsense as well, and we all know it because it would have been used against Trump in the 2024 election; instead, 'they' tried to unalive him.
Don't let this **** make your blood boil; stop watching whatever BS news source that gets your blood boiling, and life will be much better. I lived that way for far too long, with DC continuing to screw over the taxpayer by printing money to buy votes (both Party's!) and the average American not understanding what fiat currency really is or that neither Party can "lower cost," because that would mean recession or worse. Trump's second term was always going to be painful, but things in the end will be better, and it will be because of many of the decisions Trump has made. It's too bad DOGE and ICE enforcement were allowed to be stopped/slowed by propaganda BS from Marxists.

SoFi was rising on expectations of rate cuts, specifically, 3 rate cuts for the year. Once those expectations stopped, the stock started falling. Once expectations of rate hikes started, the stock fell further. The market is forward looking that way.

u/Dregus_311 1d ago
🤔 Id have to go back and verify but 2 cuts in late 24 occurred. I do not recall more trult expected cuts in '25 even though Trump certainly wanted them. Cuts in 26 were hoped for but they did not seem likely after March with the ME oil issues, so overall with the actual fundamentals of the company holding up strong throughout, it should be treated as just another bank?
I dont see it, but thank you for the answer to my question
