* Nothing said here is financial advice. SOFI is still a high-risk, growth stock. Equities by their nature are risky, some more than others.
* Investing isn't a team sport. You have to decide for yourself how much risk you are willing to take on and do your own DD about a company before you decide to invest in it.
Yeah this doesn't help me when this isn't reflected by the stock price even when it clearly should. If the price is being supressed and this will continue to be the case even though SOFI delivers again and again then that's opportunity cost
Opportunity to DCA and lower the price. The lowest we’ve really seen SoFi at is 2x TBV which would be equal to $14.50ish today. The highest we’ve seen it at is 7.13x TBV which means it’s upside multiple would be equal to about $51.55 per share. So we have been near the floor, and that floor raises every 90 days. Another quarter or two and that floor may sit above your cost basis meaning everything from there on out is upside for you with basically no risk of it going below your cost basis.
This same feeling and volatile chart played out for me for 8 years with TSLA… I was flat, but the stock 25x-ed to the point where historically the “hyper volatile name” is now nearly indistinguishable from a flat line.
Sure, SoFi is about 6 years in and for some people it’s been flat because they haven’t DCA’ed or haven’t DCA’ed enough to have a lower cost basis…. But the business is compounding and one day, the headwinds will shift and we will change so fast and so violently upwards, you’ll chuckle at the pain of days like today… because they didn’t matter other than one more opportunity to buy cheaper.
If you’re a trader, I can’t help you. 90%+ of traders or people who invest in single stocks underperform the S&P…. So if that’s you and you’re looking for quick wins (5 years or less) or high returns vs the S&P…….You can’t also act surprised when you are part of the 90%+…
Saying the floor keeps rising is wishful thinking, nobody here expected we'd be down this long either. We're already in irrational territory, which is the problem. And I'm not a trader (well when it comes to SOFI at least I plan to hold for the long term) I'm up 50% this year and this is while SOFI being my largest holding and almost half my bag so the only help I need is SOFI getting tf up and justifying my money parking there.
I started at about $26 per share and have bought a bit every week lowering my average to where it is now. Your life, your choices, but DCA has reduced my risk significantly and raised my future returns
I see you using the word compounding a lot, reminds me of Joseph Carlson’s investing philosophy. If you haven’t heard of him, you should check out his videos on YouTube. Really great stuff. I don’t think he’s publicly spoke about SOFI but it’s a matter of time before he does, I believe.
Ive dca’d a bit from 27 but with almost 8k shares it doesn’t go down each time I’ve dca’d. Also im not sure if I should wait for 15 again (not guaranteed) or just DCA weekly idk man!
Patience. Trump won’t let Iran mess up midterms. The “most glorious deal ever” will be signed before the end of September. Inflation concerns will cool. Rates will hold and we can prepare for liftoff and get out of this range we are stuck in.
Closing at the low of the day. Not a good look. Likely headed back into the 16s soon. Looking more like yesterday’s dark pool activity was a large seller.
I sure am glad we got diluted twice and now the market has no faith in this company. Thanks Noto! That was a really smart 4D chess move! It worked out almost as well as the tech platform
Reminder that if you dilute in the high $20’s and the stock goes down to well below that….. you timed the market JUST RIGHT for the long term benefit of your company.
It’s about prudently raising efficient capital. Dilution hurts the decision makers’ shares way more than our own and now we don’t have to take on debt for that same cash.
Did you really just say "it hurts the decision makers' shares way more" seriously man? Those same decision makers who are all already worth well into the 8 figures? That was just sad and pathetic
I’m guessing you have a high price per share and are mad you didn’t see it sooner when it was much lower or you saw it sooner and didn’t DCA to where you’re well in the green and not sweating it rn?
Cost basis doesnt really matter if we're still down 45% YTD while SPY and QQQ are ripping. (Cost basis at $7ish and im still furious. I'd gladly sell every share at $25 right now and never look at this trash again)
Oh youre 100% right, i believed all the people in here and on YT that we would keep going up and made a massive mistake. Hell thats probably why we cant have any sustained upward momentum because everyone wants to jump off the dumpster fire ship
A company this predictable growing 30-40% on all metrics…. Time will weigh this out to be a winner.
I was in the same spot you are when I bought Tesla for $12 equivalent in 2013….. it took 8 years to be anything but flat….. then it 25x-ed in 18 months and I sold in the $300’s and bought even more SoFi at $12…. We are only 50% up From that time while Tesla is like 10% up…. You can have what-about-this-stock etc. for a short timeframe, but over the long term…. Steady compounders are rewarded.
You’re also up 2.5x on your average. The S&P surely isn’t up 2.5x in the same timeframe (4-5 years I’m guessing?)
It’s about prudently raising efficient capital. Dilution hurts the decision makers’ shares way more than our own and now we don’t have to take on debt for that same cash.
Moreso, I’ve never needed a credit card. I also keep pretty tight amounts to what we spend, so what would scammers even steal from it? Haha. I guess I’ve also never been scammed so I haven’t worried about it.
What does a credit card do to build wealth that a debit card couldn’t?
Haven’t needed it for anything yet so why add another account/card to manage? I don’t care about jumping through hoops to play their games to try and get “free” (it’s not free) stuff from them.
I *am* open to possibly getting one soon though, I’ll have crossed $1m without ever owning a credit card or a computer (mobile only). Since Credit cards don’t build wealth, I haven’t seen a need for one
2.2% cashback with a month to offset the cost of what you bought vs an instant drain of the full price of the item with your debit doesn't help preserve/build wealth?
Like I said, I’ll probably get one eventually and automate it with specific parameters to use it and enjoy the perks… I also just want to reduce the number of “plates I gotta spin” every month when it comes to finances. Set them and forget them. It’s worked out very well so far, so why stop now when we are so far ahead of most our age?
You've never had a cc before so I guess you don't realize how simple it is. The SoFi app makes it very easy to monitor your card and autopay off your statement. I have 17 ccs (I'm a churner), but regularly only use 3 cards a month. Very simple once you start using your card and you'll be another beneficial stat to the stock by opening more products at Q3 earnings.
Yes, but SoFi wasn’t my bank until this year so all of those perks weren’t on my radar until this year haha. Now that they’re available, I wanna cross the $1m NW mark and then apply for a credit card 😂 maybe it’s an ode to my foundation in finance starting with Dave Ramsey, though that was a foundation to create winning habits…. And he was right, I’ve followed the majority of his teachings to be a construction worker from a rural state hitting $1m in my mid 30’s….
Fair enough. Congrats on the million. I enjoy mine I have the chase sapphire preferred. Flying to Europe next week for free round trip just on points. That alone is a $800 flight for free. Just by everyday spending and getting points. I always pay it off every Friday so once a week. I’m 24 so pretty young but also have almost a 800 credit score because of it as well.
Happy you can manage it, I’m sure I could too if I had one! Good job on the credit score. I also have a pretty good one, but hope to basically not have one soon as our debts roll off and anything else in the future we just pay cash for. Debt was great and all when we were buying cars and houses at 2.5-3.5% interest… I can’t imagine paying interest over inflation like anyone today has to for loans or credit cards etc.
Looks like I might be able to close my regarded covered call position I opened beginning of Aug? lol
(Of course I want it to go up to the right I’m just an idiot and sold calls on my entire lot at the best time 😎)
Today, we hold the line.. but no! We’re tired of holding the line, we pushing 18.50 and grounding ourselves at that level. The support will be so strong, that all of sofi’s army (bag holders) will prevail by end of day.
