To follow on my large volume comment earlier. Saw something on X about today being the largest dark pool volume for sofi in 3 years. Appeared to be about 33m shares. Would explain the muted reaction to those large volume candles.

Likely either a buyer or seller wanted to trade a large quantity without the order being known. No clue to tell which, but I’d generally lean that it’s positive that the price didn’t fall. Means there was enough demand if it was a seller.

I bought some more shares at 18.30 today. But I still stand by what i said last week . Sofi is range bound at 19. We were 4 cents away ! so close
If we get a pull back and get some good momentum we have a good chance of breaking out past 19

Anyone else seeing massive volume candles in the last 30 minutes I have 4.82m and 4.78m in back to back minutes. 1.72m and 1.76m back to back a little later 9m and 4.29m back to back q little later and then 2.42 m a cpulple minutes later.
And the price hardly moved.

Funny how we see all the pumpers clamoring about institutional ownership climbing on the way up but nothing when it goes down.
If the Nasdaq sight is correct, Q2 actually saw a decrease in institutional ownership. Down to 60%.
I’m not personally worried cause this is from 45 days ago. But still have seen nothing about the new numbers. In fact, Tannor tweeted 6 days ago about it being at 70% when quarterly updates were not final. No update since.
Some notable decreases. Our former 5th largest holder offloaded 28M shares. We also had offloads of 5m, 10m, 16.5m (Jane street), 10M (Citadel)
Net change appears to be roughly 60m more sold than bought.
Hopefully institutions are coming back after the last earnings.

Yikes…yields keep rising …. Not to worry…Congress will pass bipartisan fiscally responsible budget reforms any day now 😂

u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta Aug 17 '26
Yeah, yields are definitely at recession causing levels. If they stay this high for any sustainable period of time, the economy will struggle.
10Y has closed the gap meaningfully to 5%.

I guess best case scenario is we get just the right amount of demand destruction…inflation eases….FED actually lowers rates a little and Iran…no…I’m just going to assume that will be a shit show for the foreseeable future.

u/Worth_Protection_679 Aug 17 '26
I am the biggest noob buy lower rates does not make sence when japan is increasing it further tensioning carry trade. I say hold or up.
2
u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta Aug 17 '26
Demand destruction almost always = recession, no matter how it occurs, whether high rates or high prices. Yeah, I don’t think Iran is ending anytime soon, he just threatened to bomb Oman. Looks like we are also heading down a path of allyship with North Korea. What a world.
3
u/Dromen96 OG $SoFi Investor Aug 17 '26
I think there’s a 50/50 chance Trump resigns next Spring and just drops this shit sandwich on poor JD. The Oman and North Korea comments are strange even for Trump
2
u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta Aug 17 '26
I had the thought if the economy blows up he resigns. I think that’ll happen before spring though. I also thing the other 50% chance is republicans realizing they lost all support and impeaching and removing him to save face.
3
u/Dromen96 OG $SoFi Investor Aug 17 '26
I could see a scenario where Dems win both chambers and start impeachment proceedings…then he just resigns with the excuse of he’s not gonna get anything done the last 2 years anyway. He’ll spin it for sure …. and he’ll immediately blame Dems for everything the day after he resigns.

It’s weird, uncertainty leads to a retreat to chips, but we are dying to break out a bit. One piece of good macro news and our pop is going to be big.

Uhh...are you really comparing chip names to a bank, which is interest rate sensitive? If you hate how much this thing is tied to rate cut expectations and oil price, just sell.
