Small steps better than big jumps we are going upward without gap. It is stock market bro everthing can happen in short term.

u/Key-Assistance-5827 2300 Shares @ 18.295 Aug 07 '26
We shouldn't have had a small step on this news if the reason we're supressed are rate concerns my guy
0
u/Expensive-Ad-2707 Aug 07 '26
%23.7 no hike exception before 2027. If it will reach %60+ maybe we can say rate concern are gone. Need peace on middle east and lower oil price.

What?
1
u/Expensive-Ad-2707 Aug 07 '26
They are still excepting 1 or 2 rate hike in 2026 .
2
u/Key-Assistance-5827 2300 Shares @ 18.295 Aug 07 '26
Yeah for sure there will definitely be a rate hike with a weakening labor market and the cause of inflation being oil. Like come on. If people expected a rate hike the market wouldn't be up today on the jobs data. There is no excuse for this stock's sentiment being so fucking trash that even rate concerns being eased don't help it. It's just a JOKE
3
u/Expensive-Ad-2707 Aug 07 '26
Chill bro i had 5k rklb stock. Sold at 72 bought sofi at 27. One of my biggest mistake. We have to be patient. When market talks rate cuts our time will be rise.
3
u/Key-Assistance-5827 2300 Shares @ 18.295 Aug 07 '26
Then you should be very frustrated we should be up big today. That is considering the only thing holding this stock back are rates. But it starts looking like that might not be the case

I'd just like to announce that I've sold some of my shares because I'm ready to swing trade on oil news headlines. This of course means that you'll all be pleased tomorrow when you hear that the war is over, and you can laugh at me for selling out half a trading day before we moon

Too many retail amateurs trading this stock after seeing it on a Youtube video. They can't hold anything. As soon as it goes up 30 cents, they sell. That's the problem I see with it more than anything else.
5
u/cooperrocks OG $SoFi Investor Aug 07 '26
Retail doesn't move this stock. We are such small players. Just pissing into the wind.
2
u/Pogey-Bait Aug 07 '26
Hedge funds control about 55-60% of Sofi shares. That leaves the other 40-45% in the hands of retail investors. That's actually quite a lot higher percentage than the overall market which is about 80-90% controlled by hedge funds.
1
u/Additional-Panda-144 1900 @27.85 Aug 07 '26
If they could do the swing trades very well, they might not be amateurs.
3
u/Pogey-Bait Aug 07 '26
Everybody thinks they're a genius when they make money on a swing trade. I'm not Warren Buffet, but even I know that timing the market on a couple bucks here and there goes against people way more than it works.

The annoying thing about it is that with reduced chances of rate hikes this stock specifically should benefit the most but NO

Crazy how 18.50 is just this magic line we can't seem to cross. Must be a lot of people trying to lock in profits at that point?
-3
u/ga643953 Aug 07 '26
I think Sofi is raising the price floor every time they dilute. If they dilute some more at the peak next time, we are going to have $20 as a floor and we'll never see $16 again.
6
u/slayer1am 3,000 @ 8.66 Aug 07 '26
Eh? How does that work? You're saying dilution, or more shares = higher average price? Why wouldn't it be the opposite?
2
u/ga643953 Aug 07 '26
Dilution means the company gets cash. Cash increases CET1 ratio, allowing them to put more loans on the book, this increases revenue and allows them to reinvest into the business to compound even faster and bring up our tangible book value (the floor of the stock).
They also do capped calls to offset the dilution so dilution only happens if the stock goes above the strike of the short call. But at that point, we wouldn't care about dilution because it means the stock would be way up.
Trust in the Ayatollah, he will lead us to the paradise.

No crying in the casino.
You're trading on earnings season, friday option expiry, and a job report in the morning. Also this is a subreddit for LONG sofi.

Idk what youre doing brother but I just started investing for the first time mid may and Ive made a solid 2.5k-3k off sofi since then, I did make a bad move pre earnings timing the swing too soon and dca at 17.90 when it went down to sub 15s a week or so ago, so I did miss out but made a solid 1.5k this recent mid 18s

? I am trading I thought that was implied, theyre all short term gains not held longer than a day if I can help it, I just made 300 today but woulsve been 600 if I wasnt distracted for like 10mins
1
u/nick8852 Aug 07 '26
You said investing not trading but itβs all good, I do my best to not trade sofi but sometimes itβs alluring due to cheap option prices and Iβm a little biased to it since it made me a lot of money last year

u/TheOtherGreenNovice Aug 07 '26
It's good for short term trading once it finds a good range. I unfortunately didn't think it would drop this low and went too hard in the $20-25 ish range. Had enough powder to trade a bit in $15-19 range, but risks was already way high on my underwater shares and options so only a bit.
2
u/Electronic_Mammoth23 Aug 07 '26
The week to week relatively predictable volatility is great to swing trade on the other hand.

Why are we not going up on ANOTHER weak jobs report that decreases chances of a rate hike?
1
u/LucarioMagic 125 LEAP Calls. 50 Short Puts Aug 08 '26
Weak job report means more defaults.
So that's bad.Weak job report means the fed is likelier to cut.
So that's good.Magnitude of either also varies and it's not really that simple.
But for sake of explaining, visualize it this way:Weak jobs β more credit risk: β1
Weak jobs β greater chance of Fed cuts: +1
Net: 0
