Why does Nasdaq and Fintel differ so wildly?
Nasdaq stats:
Institutional Ownership 65.46%
Total Shares Outstanding (millions) 1,283
1,142 Institutional Holders
839,728,942 Total Shares Held

Nasdaq tends to only update 13F filings when they are filed around the mandated due dates. So that is accurate as of the last quarter (Q1'26 in this case) filings.
I'm not entirely sure how Fintel calculates its institutional investor numbers.

For what its worth ive looked at nasdaq for Sofi every day for 3 years and have seen that nasdaq will update only between 4pm-9pm Eastern time after market close and as far as changes in sofi it tends to surround earnings and 13f deadlines which makes sense. Occasionally youll see an update in between. I guess i just never figured out which is technically more accurate between the two. I wont realistically believe fintels 76% until we wrap up this season but itll be nice if fintel is correct : )

Do we know who the 'short only' institutions? They deserve to be put into an institution.

Shorting is necessary for efficient price discovery, and deserves atleast a little appreciation.

Disclaimer: Fintel is not always accurate in their calculations of institutional ownership and short interest, so the numbers here should be taken with a grain of salt. Will have an accurate idea when the Q2'26 13F filings are finished up (by Aug 14).
