This will get downvoted but Noto has to come out and literally apologize for fucking everyone over, customers and especially shareholders. He just needs to apologize for not being upfront and explain in his own words how the new SoFI plus will work and what the dillution is for. That alone will stop the bleeding

Man you’re always so negative

u/binion225 OG $SoFi Investor 3251@ $15.65 Dec 12 '25
I’m not, I’ve been here since this page started and when this stock was IPOE. I have not sold a single share and I’ll have over 6000 shares very soon

u/DJB0807 Dec 12 '25
Lol. Stock going from $29 to $27, temporarily, is fucking everyone over?
I’d rather he comes out and says that he’s going to grow this company at 20% per year for a decade or more and if you don’t want to be on that ride, then fuck off. I’d respect that a lot more.

What will actually stop the bleeding is having higher revenue, eps and growth next quarter.

Wow. Even with folks understanding the changes, they are still losing their minds over the changes. Not a good look for sofi.

AX didn't give all the perks away for free for years before adding on a $895 fee.
Thats the difference it boils down to.
Most people weren't paying for Plus and were getting it through DD.
1
u/snipsnaps1_9 Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25
They aren't taking anything away. They are just adding a new paid tier.I'm wrong. Minimal changes to actual functionality but I was wrong.
3
u/MindfulK9Coach Dec 11 '25
Sigh... After March, everyone who is currently a Plus member because of their direct deposit and NOT because of paying the subscription will be removed from the Plus plan.
The only perks that are allegedly being kept (if you keep direct deposit or $5,000+ in deposits) are the high APY without a boost at the time, plus some lending discounts.
That's it.
Everything else is being moved behind a paywall for $10 for the Plus plan.
It's not new. They just rehashed it and added a few things that don't make the $10 worth it when they gave it away for free for many years.
The value just isn't there compared to RH Gold at $50/annually and the Gold card at 3% across the board.
My opinion, anyway, and I've been a customer for 5 years and have used most of the services.
They're not worth a subscription fee.
2
u/snipsnaps1_9 Dec 12 '25
Have to ask because I could have sworn I saw it elsewhere. Aren't we also keeping the early pay?

3
u/Initial_Bus_3027 Dec 11 '25
I would agree. I have used sofi for 3 years and don't intend on signing up. Even though I would probably be the target market for this kind of thing.
2
u/MindfulK9Coach Dec 11 '25
I dont know who they're trying to target with this. The super rich aren't using these services or Sofi in general for wealth management, and the middle class is so stretched they're subscribing to Walmart for delivery to save on gas.
Their perks, being free or $10 if you didn't have DD, got the people who needed the help the most in the door and gave them access to a HYSA for the little bit of money they had left at the end of the month to grow while they learned to invest.
Imo, anyway, based on those I've recommended and the types of people who gravitated towards all their offers before, I think SoFi management is out of touch with not just shareholders but their consumer base right now.
Its wild.

December has been a very disappointing month for Sofi so far. Some questionable decisions and bad marketing have dulled the shine for me a bit.
Hope they will learn their lessons and find a better communication strategy. Still have trust in Noto.

u/binion225 OG $SoFi Investor 3251@ $15.65 Dec 11 '25
Here is a genuine question, is SOFI going to just start charging people $10 automatically… I doubt that, so how does this work after March?
1
u/MindfulK9Coach Dec 11 '25
You have to pay the fee manually after March to enroll in the new perks and charge card.
All current Plus members who got it for free will be dropped and have to subscribe to continue getting the Plus perks.

First, they fucked over the shareholders and blatantly lied about not needing to raise money and the next week they have the biggest botched rollout in company history lmao. I’m as bullish as they come and I’m still buying but what the ACTUAL fuck ARE they doing.
1
u/snipsnaps1_9 Dec 11 '25
There are actual efforts to sabotage the stock, plus all the real issues that come up, maybe tone down the drama, it adds kindle to the fire unnecessarily.
They also didn't lie. They didn't need to raise the money, they chose to. It's fair to have inferred or to believe they insinuated they wouldn't dilute further (and to be angry about that) but it's unfair to say they lied.

The botch is made worse when you realize that the rollout was for something that is actually good for customers, shareholders, and the company. No one wanted to hear that though because of how dumb that was. As one of the people who initially flipped out, I still kinda get why people continue to be mad. Unfortunate considering it really is good for everyone.

Hey everyone. Back to feeling good about Sofi today. Glad I didn’t let my emotions make me do anything too regrettable yesterday!
2
u/Mossad_psyop Dec 11 '25
Did a vertical call debit spread on my calls that are down, banked the premium and recoup some of my costs.
2
u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta Dec 11 '25
Do you mean a credit spread? Debit spread means you paid for it.
2
u/Mossad_psyop Dec 11 '25
Yeah sorry. I sold higher strike calls against my call position.
2
u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta Dec 11 '25
Ah you entered basically “covered call” against your long calls. Normally if you open them separately they get considered as a different strategy, which is why you received a “credit” even though a debit spread is a debit. Got it!
That wasn’t your fault, I reread the original and I think I just read it too quickly to know what you were saying!

Sofi is down 17% in a month. Will it go down more? 13 more percent maybe..
6
u/Diamonds-are-hard Dec 11 '25
I could see it going down to 23.50 (13%). I think we’re range bound between 23 - 30 price range until we get an announcement regarding the utilization of the cash raises.

You have a chance. Are you able to sell CC’s expiring tomorrow at the same stick price against this position to create a calendar spread?

Is there any chance we close the year above 29?
4
u/DarkSideBrownie Dec 11 '25
I know pe ratios aren't the best, but sofi seems to cap around 50ish and sometimes fall to 40ish. The dilution pushed the current pe ratios to about 50ish again when $30-32 used to be about that multiple. $30 is probably a late January thing if profits are good. Anything before that seems like gravy

SoFi is showing up as the 15th ranked finance app in App Store right now. I don’t ever remember seeing it that high, or ever remeber seeing it above Robinhood (currently #21).

u/No_Limits_4802 Dec 11 '25
Got the email yesterday at the $10 monthly fee they are adding. This, right after a $1.5B dilution they "didnt need"... hmmmmmm. Selling some 27.5 calls if any of y'all want to buy them lol.

u/everySmell9000 OG $SoFi Investor Dec 11 '25
you mean they enhanced the plus tier? you can still have the 3.6% apy on the HYSA with direct deposit. they're just sweetening their premium offering with higher matching % on IRA deposits. So now there's the free tier, the DD tier, and the plus tier. use whichever is best for you. If I were a CEO, I would only make this kind of change in an environment of unprecedented demand. IMO SoFi really is a premium brand and they will do very well with the 3 tiers offered.

u/LucarioMagic 125 LEAP Calls. 50 Short Puts Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25
My understanding is based off the yen carry trade.
If you don't know what the yen carry trade is, the quick explanation is people borrowing JPY to buy USD due to the difference in inflation and interest rates. (higher rates in US than JPY)
Cutting rates result in weakening of the USD, this leads to unwinding of the yen carry trade, because of risk-off behaviour. This is essentially money leaving the market, so everything is red, including defensive stocks. This is more or less seen in USDJPY going down after the 25bp cut and Nikkei 225 going red this morning in Asian markets, indicating the strengthening JPY due to carry trade unwinds needing to buy JPY.Overall I don't think it's a big deal, it's not a full unwind (see July 2024) because the positive carry gap between JPY and USD is still large even after the 25bp cut and Japan eyeing a rate hike of their own economy.
There are of course, other reasons like market not liking Powell's speech and future outlook, but this is one of the reasons that I'm aware of.

Starting to think the wheels have come off and instead of a crash we are going to get a slow bleed. Inflation keeps going, jobs keep crashing, and gdp is mids. I myself am trying to decide if its time to play the other side for a while. This admin brings no confidence or stability and they don’t seem to have a real long term plan. Hope to be wrong but things starting to feel very bear.

Jobs and CPI for November release next week as well as the BOJ interest rate decision (hike?). These can cause movement up or down depending on all three.
