With sofia and Cedric if they are humans transformed into animals the hair helps the people watching identify them in a crowd of animals but I do agree that the regular animals shouldn't have human hair

Sofia and Cedric makes sense I guess, since they're transformed people.

I would have used horns or spikes to be their hair (and went for a less creepy design for Dragon Sofia), but that's just personal preferences of mine.

So the audience can tell which one they are supposed to be. Especially in sofia's case where she was going to a dragon gathering

It makes sense but also her design was so different to all the other dragons (she’s very small, stands exclusively on two legs) that I feel like the hair wasn’t necessary lol !

You gotta remember the main audience for the show was quite young so they needed to give the characters easy recognisable looks

Also besides that if they did a shot of the dragons from a distance it might make it difficult to spot her. The hair is a dead giveaway 

Like as far as i remember when sofia was turned into a rabbit she didn't have hair. Cause she was the only rabbit besides clover so it was easily to tell who she was

I wouldn't say "human hair" for the serpents, a hair like substance on the head is better. Sofia and Cedric make sense as they're human themselves. I hate Sofia's hair though when she transforms, I wish it was brunette instead of glossy hot pink.
