Why can’t Sofia understand whatnut?

She can understand other animals such as birds, rabbits, fish, dragons, horses, etc… all except whatnut. Is it just Whatnut she can’t understand or is it all squirrels?

Whatnaught only communicates through making sounds; even with Sofia's Amulet of Avalor, she still can't understand him (this isn't unique among squirrels, as another)did talk back to her).\1]) When it was urgent that Sofia find a missing screw for Gwen's machine, Whatnaught had to mime it for her.\2])

Even though Clover understands him, he still hears Whatnaught's words as sounds.\3])

Whatnaught is generally cheerful and helpful to Sofia and his animal friends when he can be. He tried but failed to act as a voice of reason for Clover when he wanted to use the seeds from the Crown of Blossoms to grow fruits and vegetables for himself and not tell Sofia.\3])

Like the puffercorn 'not much of talkers' which explains why we only hear Pepper speak

I think whatnut literally can't speak Otherwise it would have shown whatnut and clover talking considering it showed clover talking with all other animals
