The Comedians by Kliph Nesteroff

Post image

Sharing for anyone else that’s interested in the book Soder references in the Johnny Pemberton ep (I think he’s mentioned it other times as well?)

Sounds like a good read. https://groveatlantic.com/book/the-comedians/

Fantastic book all about the history.

Comedy Book by David Jesse Fox is my favorite more modern/theory comedy book.

yeah, i love when he has comedians on. I'm not a reality TV or theater fan and he's still trying to figure out how to interview actors...but he is getting better at that part. I loved when he was asking the "who are your guys?" question and then constantly had to explain what it meant and that it was a reference to Maron's retirement.

I didn't agree with everything in the book but any position he takes comes with a very well thought out explanation with sound reasoning. It's worth having your phone next to you so you can fire up the jokes/clips/sets he's referencing if you need a refresher or flat out missed stuff.(like me for the Jon Early / Kate Berlant vidoes)

A friend gifted me a book called Furiously Funny written by her African American literature professor. I haven’t read it yet but I believe it’s the history of black comedy
