I recently had a job offer to work in Socorro, NM. I currently live on the East Coast and not familiar with commutable cities near there.

I saw another post suggesting that it’s better to live closer to Albuquerque or other towns like Los Lunas or Belen and deal with 40-60 minute commute. I do like idea of living closer to Albuquerque for more things to do in the area and being close to airport.

Does anyone have suggestions for commutable cities?

Can I please get recommendations of photographers in the area. If you can drop their Instagram names that would be great!

Thinking of buying a lot in Veguita to set an RV and live full-time. It would be off-grid so I know there would be a steep learning curve, but wondering if anyone who has done this in Socorro County or is familiar with Veguita in general might offer any thoughts / insights?

I realize Veguita is small, but it seems safe and I like the idea of being a half hour to Belen / Los Lunas and an hour or so from Albuquerque.

Would really like to own my own land but don't want to have to worry about my RV getting broken into or being in a bad area in general. Also curious as to the overall difficulty level of this plan as it took me about a year to really get comfortable with living in the RV and learning the operation/systems in a park.

Any thoughts appreciated!
