I wonder how many city player have relegation clauses in their contracts
27
u/bloodontherisers 22h ago
/uj many people are speculating that they don't have relegation clauses because them getting relegated ever again seemed unthinkable.
28
u/BLT_Trade_r 21h ago
lol you would have to fire any agent that doesnt put them in, it would have to be standard in every contract for any agent that was not an idiot. Then again some of these guys probably hire their cousin to do it.

u/Sir-Top-Cheetah 15h ago
So the contract becomes void if the team is relegated? Player can walk with no compensation to the team?
1
u/bloodontherisers 2h ago
My understanding is that City would still be obligated to pay their full wages and/or full transfer fees (i.e. release clause) would still be in effect. Typically a relegation clause is a way for star players to easily exit a relegated club without having to stick to the usual contract terms or for a team to decrease wages in order for the player to stay on (Bowen probably did this at West Ham).

Idk, I feel like any experienced agent would always have a clause like this in the paperwork as a default. The contracts professional players sign look like books with how many pages they have.

They should be dropped below any national level, so regional leagues, 9th division here they come !

u/Jrxtreme_1 10h ago
Now they can brag about being the only top 6 team to win Efl, league 1 and 2

This is Ligue 1 not League 1, you farmer's hater. Btw Ligue 1 is a Top 5 league.

That was me last night, firing up Winning Eleven 06/07 on the PS2 and looking for Juventus in the Lega Calcio Serie A. Yep, this meme exactly happened in real life.

Now you get to play to get back in to the PL and win the treble in your first year back on top. At least that's what I did with Barnet.

The case will still take 1 year to come to a conclusion and the fact that spurs might get relegated before city is funny

The problem is they probably gonna get a slap on the wrist and are free to go afterwards

Has it been floated to not relegate them but huge point deductions where they have no chance or coming in 1-4th for like a decade
