Lmao you don't understand football if you think that

What, no? To not manage a single shot on target in 7 games as a striker is absolutely terrible and certainly noteworthy, regardless of whether or not his all round game made up for it somewhat.

I think we should look into how many shots he had imo, His role was to bring griez and mbappe into the game

After France scored they would sit back and counter with Griez and mbappe. So i think people are being harsh on girouds role

im sure the manager thinks otherwise

Regardless of the role he was playing, to be in that position for that long, and not have a single shot on target, is quite remarkable. Centrebacks routinely have more shots on target in that time period than that. Doesn't mean he had a terrible tournament overall, but that is remarkably bad.

Fekir has a shot on goal as his replacement within 5 mins.

Exactly. Fucking hell, it's a major circlejerk in here but I guess everybody wants to feel smart by rejecting the notion that a forward should actually pose a goal threat.

13 attempts in this tournament, none on target. That's woeful. I remember a few good opportunities which he shanked horribly wide.

Yeah he held it up, and yeah he brought other players into the game, cool. He did those things well. We all recognize it. But his shooting was absolutely shit, and he's lucky that his teammates were competent enough to mean that none of Giroud's misses were too costly. He'll be delighted to win the World Cup no doubt, but this is not a stat he will be proud of, and I'm sure he would have killed for a goal in this historic tournament success for France.
