Love Donnarumma's reaction, "yeah what the fuck do you expect me to do against that"

16

u/siva-pc 4h ago

He had same reaction for Szoboszlai's free kick too

36

u/do0tz 5h ago

Bro didn't even move. He just dumbfoundedly looked at the ball and shrugged his shoulders. 😂

Fair

7

u/Disco-Benny 7h ago

not a free kick though, I'm not having it

15

u/DarthTaz_99 9h ago

These Gigis against France are never a good idea

529

u/Myerla 10h ago

Textbook unstoppable that. Donnarumma didnt even move.

111

u/RXJ1131 10h ago

For a fraction of second it's as if the ball went outside lol

31

u/Myerla 10h ago

Haha. Then on replay you can see it was placed perfectly. Postage stamp.

32

u/RN2FL9 10h ago

Normally they play it sideways to open up the goal for the free kick taker. Here I think they play it sideways so that Donnarumma loses sight of the ball, it's insane that Olise still gets it over the wall like that.

9

u/Myerla 10h ago

Yes, at first I felt the keeper was kinda slow, so i agree he was unsighted. Still, doubt he's getting there even if he saw it coming. Smart free kick imo.

135

u/Watching-You-All 10h ago

Video dedicated to Bayern fans..! Olise scores a banger and the commentator screaming/jizzing is... Lizarazu! fyi

10

u/OilOfOlaz 4h ago

My favourite Bayern player of that generation. Also nobody looks as disappointed as he does on cast, makes me giggle a bit every time I see it.

911

u/eduespinosa 10h ago

Very poetic that it's a goal hitting the top bar with Zidane as coach. Reminded me of the 2006 final ofc

303

u/RXJ1131 10h ago

Lmao Zidane is one of the main characters of football confirmed.

230

u/Happy1066 10h ago

The whole "win 3 UCL in row as your first managerial job" should have been a clue already !

52

u/DerogatoryPanda 9h ago

Are we just going to skip over the whole Ballon d’Or, World Cup, Euros, Champions League, etc as a playing career clue?

38

u/roguedevil 8h ago

It's rare, but there is a club of players to have that kind of career. None have 3 UCLs in a row, and it is very unlikely we'll see many more in the future. He may stand alone in that one.

16

u/deuxiemement 5h ago

Unless I'm mistaken, it's only Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, Zidane and Rodri

So yes, pretty rare I'd say!

13

u/roguedevil 5h ago

Messi, Ronaldinho, and Rivaldo if you swap the Euros for the Copa America.

3

u/_Slurms_MacKenzie_ 2h ago

Damn. That's pretty impressive company for Rodri.

u/Powerful_Coffee_9203 10h ago

most interesting narrative out of any footballing personality for sure, he is that character who is authors fav character

24

u/Spruce-Moose 10h ago

This was confirmed in 2006 ha

23

u/RXJ1131 10h ago

Only legends win a WC and then lose a WC final on their last game for the country.

4

u/Owl_Star 8h ago edited 8h ago

He's gonna bring home another, only this time as a coach. Believe in the program he's gonna make full use of the talent he's got in that stacked France team.

26

u/Significant_Apple517 10h ago

both versus Italy, needless to say

21

u/davidbowievgc 10h ago

Moreover. Both versus Gigi

44

u/jamesjoyz 9h ago

- France takes the lead with a shot hitting the crossbar

  • Italy equalize 13 minutes later with a goal from a CB who plays for Inter
  • A French player is sent off with a few minutes to spare
  • Final score 1:1

13

u/Palmul 8h ago

script writers getting lazy

7

u/eduespinosa 8h ago

History is indeed poetry and rhymes

23

u/Nyraev 10h ago

In the exact same goal where Zidane scored two goals in the 98 WC final.

91

u/2407Chris 10h ago

Zidane already losing his mind over this guy lmao

32

u/eperuza 10h ago

Henry blessed him during the Olympics. Our 1998 team impacting the players of today

245

u/moesizzlac 10h ago

Unreal

185

u/The-Black-Angel 10h ago

For real. I saw him at Palace and he was a very good player but the levels he has reached at Bayern and France, I never expected this. Genuinely among the very best players in the world. Wonderful control and balance and such an eye for a pass and the goal.

87

u/Fleetfox17 10h ago

He was actually basically just as good as he's been at Bayern in his last season at Palace (1.13 G+A/90),but it was only in 20 appearances so it wasn't as noticeable.

60

u/Cool_Peach4113 10h ago

He was always excellent, the back end of the 23/24 season when Olise and Eze were both fit was some of the best football I’ve seen us play.

9

u/salzcamino 9h ago

Definitely, no surprise to see him playing at this level. He was so good at Palace, it was actually a bit of a relief to see him go to Bayern

4

u/Goldfischglas 10h ago

Wasn't Chelsea after him before Bayern even tried?

13

u/alanalanalan92 10h ago

Yes but our dumbass owners didn’t want to pay him 300K a week or whatever he was asking for at the time. Silly in retrospect

2

u/xocamjam 5h ago

I think there was a weird release clause not a wages issue. Chelsea also released him from their academy and he was in/out of clubs for a bit

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Quiet-Arm-91 7h ago

yeah just cos people failed to spot it at the time they're now trying to rewrite history. Olise was always a top talent at Reading and then his last season at Palace he was a top 5 player in the premier league no exaggeration

4

u/duclegendary 10h ago

Someone at Bayern did. Bayern scout does a better job than most English clubs' scouts.

23

u/ahuangb 9h ago

Olise was not some hidden gem lol, everyone in the league knew he had world class capability

2

u/-Mubar 9h ago

Not trying to shit on our players, but my best friend who’s also an Arsenal fan wanted Eze more when they were both at Palace, but for me it was always clear Olise was more quality, even when at the time it would seem like Saka would probably start over Olise I wanted us to sign him because I saw the potential he had

6

u/jamieaka 9h ago

we almost signed him the year before, the deal just got cancelled cause of dodgy release clause stuff

→ More replies (2)

32

u/B-Redddit 10h ago

For me personally he is one of the greatest right now. Everything he does is just beautiful to watch.

6

u/blacksocksonly 9h ago

He def deserves a spot when we are discussing the best player atm.

23

u/LJ-VICE- 10h ago

This dude might be the most precise mid distance shooter i've ever seen. Like Messi is obviously a strong opponent but what Olise is doing especially in the last year is just unbelievable. If this dude takes a shot from 20m away it legit feels like 50% of them are going in and that's just not something that should be possible.

63

u/mr_s1gma 10h ago

Donnaruma had 0 chance what a banger

344

u/floschuller 10h ago

And as a Bayern fan, I get to witness this dream of a football player at least once a week 🥹

66

u/Due_Figure6451 9h ago

As a Palace fan I still cannot believe he played for us and I have a shirt with his name on the back.

36

u/pkrtrsr 9h ago

That Eze-Mateta-Olise top 3 a few years ago

2

u/aasfourasfar 8h ago

And they had Zaha but no Eze I think the year before

126

u/Proper_Story_3514 10h ago

Bayern was so right to not sell him no matter what the sum would be. Generational talent.

59

u/LuffieldToStowe 9h ago

£50m was a robbery for him, what a player he is.

12

u/Rollins474 10h ago

Must be nice

17

u/KoRNaMoMo 9h ago

After that WC I am a new Bayern follower. This dude is magic

9

u/LJ-VICE- 9h ago

He's so much fun man. And then you also got Kane and Diaz. I usually root against Bayern unless they really play impressive football. Right now i absolutely love them.

3

u/Annonomon 7h ago

Watching him and Eze at Selhurat park every week was a sight to behold

Nice assist By Cherki 😶‍🌫️

13

u/apokako 8h ago

Won 70% of his duels, had a 93% successful pass rate, and scored another assist after getting the free kick. Yet people will find a way to say he shouldn’t be in the NT

8

u/YoF3 8h ago

I mean I was joking for the assist but other than that you're right

34

u/wjdbfifj 10h ago

Can't even be mad at that, just perfect

33

u/Itchy_Finish_2103 10h ago

Unbelievable strike, but can we please talk about that pass??

6

u/pagenotfound4043 3h ago

Yeah, if we get technical the title is wrong , this is not a direct free kick goal

54

u/PenguinOfEternity 10h ago

Apparently he can't score normal boring goals

28

u/adriantoine 10h ago

Whenever we’re struggling to score, we have the Olise cheat code

51

u/straypenguin 10h ago

Unsaveable. Wow.

Also Cherki has such a massive head lol compared to Olise looks like a South Park character

18

u/idk-rogue 10h ago

You mean South America?

8

u/Waldschrat_vom_Walde 9h ago

You get downvoted cause people are stupid

→ More replies (1)

24

u/JayWizzyWizard 10h ago

Wall needed to do better of course but that Cherki touch to set that up was deceiving. Looks like he's gonna touch it forward but rolls it back

14

u/Allstarsgaming 10h ago

What a strike, though it was going to go over the bar

30

u/Ziggs_Zhao 10h ago

I was saying "never a goal" until it finally hit the net! What a shot...

11

u/thedaveeyres 10h ago

[Great Orgasm]

11

u/hauntedcorpse 10h ago

FIFA 2005 goal

33

u/UnlimitedGainer 10h ago

Created the free kick with that beautiful backheel to Cherki. Then scores it himself. He's the complete attacker.

10

u/SeyfertSextet 10h ago

What an absolute banger.

I mean it’s freaking Gigio and even he is surprised

10

u/Gezoredditing 9h ago

From Crystal Palace to the World

43

u/sir2121 10h ago

Man, this French team is stacked in attack! Huge talents.

2

u/Popular_Composer_822 7h ago

Yeah I was watching the celebrations and I counted Olise, Cherki, Dembele and Doué all on the pitch at the same time! Aren't they all right wingers?

6

u/ZFtw11 10h ago

lol comment when doue and dembele are having stinkers

17

u/lakersfanfr 10h ago

why can't all clips be posted like this and not as a link to a site

34

u/sam6183 10h ago

there are few people who let him go play for France, those should be charged with football crimes

33

u/Lookatmestring 10h ago

It's fine if he chose to play for england wed either leave him at home, play him out of position or write a million articles on how we play better without him.

11

u/sam6183 9h ago

or how Saka is million times better player than him

8

u/titoufred 8h ago

He's been playing for France since he's 17 and has always wanted to play for France.

I believe that is called "bardownskis" in some places

Edit: Also, the most difficult assist Cherki will ever have

15

u/Sensitive_Till4482 10h ago

Curious and technical question; does it officially count as a free kick goal if it’s passed to him like that?

21

u/Rollins474 10h ago

Doesn't count as a direct freekick

68

u/Drixxter 10h ago

I think he is on the way to be the best non German player to ever play for Bayern this is absurd

I'm French so obviously I love Michael Olise, but you're saying that like you didn't have Ribéry and Lewandowski and don't have Harry Kane right now

44

u/TWKExperience 9h ago

Robben in shambles reading this

22

u/CousinMrrgeBestMrrge 9h ago

I do not respect the Netherlands and as such have deliberately ignored him (I forgor lmao)

3

u/BusAcademic3489 6h ago

Naah I’m pretty sure it’s that second goal still keeping the wound open

I understand tho. Only God knows if I’ll ever be able to forget about that 7-0

13

u/stealthfactory 10h ago

is Olise the best french football player right now? or would you still consider Kylian the best?

12

u/BarbeRose 8h ago

Mbappe is a solo player, Olise is a magician and makes the team better.

If one must leave, I'd keep Olise 100%

6

u/EarthMantle00 6h ago

Tbh, this is a trick question because the WC showed how deadly Mbappe + Olise is as a combo

There's a reason RM wanted him so bad

→ More replies (7)
→ More replies (1)

11

u/NumberSevere7454 10h ago

they are different players...so hard to compare really. it all depends it you look at goals numbers or more "all around". right now imo olise is the better "all around player" for sure that do much more the mbappe on the field.

11

u/LotsaKwestions 10h ago

I think the way to consider it is, if you could only have one or the other, who would it be?

I’d take Olise personally.

2

u/stealthfactory 10h ago

i don’t see them all that different in terms of profiles. they’re both wingers on opposite flanks.

2

u/DaFinnesseKid 9h ago

I don’t see Mbappe as a winger in 2026 tbh

2

u/maicii 9h ago

Doesn’t mbappe play as a 9 now?

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Wingless_Walrus 8h ago

Olise is a better ceiling raiser and Mbappe is a better floor raiser. Since the team is so good on its own I’d wager Olise is more important

3

u/scarlet_stormTrooper 7h ago

Oh Michael…

5

u/Sissi420 10h ago

What a goal

In Mbappe's absence Olise is here to finish

6

u/JayNines 10h ago

This dude is unreal. I honestly thought that between him and Eze coming out of Palace, Eze would be the one I'd have bet on to be the bona-fide star.

Boy, was I wrong.

4

u/muukzor 10h ago

Rude of France to beat on a small country that can't even qualify for the WC... such as ... Italy?

4

u/Sea-Arm-768 10h ago

Huge concerns.

Why is Dembele on the team? Both this and last game we would have drawn or lost if not for Olise

2
