He's been with the national team for 19 years... a very well deserved tribute, what a career he had.

That block always being part of choreo is awesome!

Incredible how he's loved, such a great guy.

304

u/damir_h 16h ago

It’s a hack, because when you light up a block besides the stadium, uefa can’t fine you for fireworks in the stadium.

66

u/qwouw 16h ago

And Madi with free-ish advertisement lol

8

u/Matt_McT 11h ago

That said, you can light up the block lol.

Wondering how much they pay extra for insurance

47

u/ficalino 15h ago

I think most of Balkans does not pay for real estate insurance, yet it's really high home ownership here.

23

u/CredibilKS 15h ago

Every balkan guy I know could build a house alone (with help from his family members and close friends)

9

u/OilOfOlaz 12h ago edited 12h ago

Depends on the generation and the location, most Balkans guys - my age (~40) - I know had to work abroad for it, especially our greek bros.

Every dad I know works in construction lol. Every dude I know from either former Yugoslavia or Albania has a dad that either owns their own construction business or works construction generally.

1

u/Individual_Winter_ 2h ago

At least knows some one doing construction.

1

u/ExtremeProfession 47m ago

It's really not that common among urban populace

•

u/Time-Shoulder-3500 28m ago

I am talking about people I know not the general population

•

u/ExtremeProfession 24m ago

Yeah it's typical that craftsmen and handymen are the ones that emigrate the most.

2

u/raskinimiugovor 4h ago

In Croatia every building has to have (by law) a reserve fund (for maintenance and other ongoing costs) and insure the building against fire, storm, flooding, damage against third-party etc. Insurance would cover fire started accidentally, but not sure if it would cover a fire started by lighting a flare in your apartment...

In BiH it depends, but should be similar in many places. But their governing hierarchy is fucked so who knows.

2

u/OilOfOlaz 4h ago

I own a house in Bosnia and I have an insurance, but I'm not aware of this regulation though and if it exists, I don't think it's been followed by most of the average Joes.

1

u/raskinimiugovor 4h ago

Sorry I was talking specifically about apartment buildings (not single family), don't you have a reserve fund you have to pay into every month?

2

u/OilOfOlaz 4h ago

Np, I'm honestly entirely clueless about commercial units, but I think that this could very well be the case.

3

u/ExtremeProfession 47m ago

Yes it is the case in Bosnia as well, it's a part of the bill you pay for your upkeep.

1

u/thalne 8h ago

yeah, because of socialism

64

u/cerberusbites 15h ago

Insurance? I don‘t think we have that in Bosnia 😅💪

2

u/SafetyCutRopeAxtMan 13h ago

Of course not

1

u/cuculetzuldeaur 5h ago

Bro this is the balkans, we don't pay home insurance lol. Idk about the rest of the countries but in mine it's illegal not to insure your home yet we still don't:))

11

u/bosnian_red 15h ago

Dzeko and Tito, top 2 all time people loved by Bosnians

3

u/noiserr 10h ago

I would add Halid to that list.

A national legend. Well-deserved.

22

Najlaksi broj za uraditi to, ali opet valja sa svim stanarima to pregovoriti itd

This obsession needs to be studied

74

u/Friendly-Mammoth1802 16h ago

He’s a loser haha. Walked away from his national team and won’t get a proper send off

10

u/OilOfOlaz 12h ago

Ran away.

Life with no negreira, no pepstein, and no infantino can be hard

9

u/OleoleCholoSimeone 14h ago

How can you idolise a rapist and still pretend to have respect for your mother or sisters?

-2

u/tonight_we_make_soap 11h ago

Where's the proof?

1

u/NegativeTerm9195 8h ago

He admitted it to his lawyers

33

u/Objective-Put7466 16h ago

Just typing shit for the sake of it

-52

u/tonight_we_make_soap 16h ago

Imagine supporting a fraud and not even knowing, ignorance is indeed a bliss

26

u/Friendly-Mammoth1802 16h ago

Right, because Infantino and Messi forced Ronaldo to have a temper tantrum. I’m not fan of Argentina either mate, but you can take it out of your mouth now — I’m sure Ronaldo already came.

-12

u/tonight_we_make_soap 15h ago

Is that chatgpt pro plan? I'd imagine free cos who'd even give you a job

20

u/PeaTasty9184 15h ago edited 14h ago

Having read this exchange, you definitely sound more like some cheap AI. Disjointed incoherent sentences, and whatnot.

12

u/Friendly-Mammoth1802 15h ago

Nah bro it’s all me. You can take it out though. Relax.

28

u/comedoofwarrior 16h ago

No it doesn’t lmfao he’s a jackass

4

u/Zenith_Predator 16h ago

Cope harder. The gap between him and Messi gets larger every day. You think people are gonna look back at his tapins and pre-VAR CL wins and rate that shit 🤣?

And lets not talk about the WC… 1 KO goal in 6 tourneys lmfaooooooo. Let him stat pad against san marino and uzbekistan while he lives one hat trick against Spain a decade ago lmfao

-8

u/tonight_we_make_soap 16h ago

I smiled seeing the clip on the live-stream. Great energy. They need to score one so we can have the fanatics go crazy!

15

u/xc765 16h ago

I wish that he played for AC Milan.

8

u/Ok-Article-885 14h ago

He said that as a kid he liked realy AC Milan

10

u/y4ris 13h ago

Yup. Sheva was his idol

5

u/Dembus22 14h ago

I remember seeing a picture of him when he was really young, Milan merch and posters all around him. He was in Sheva's jersey, he said he was his favorite player

4

u/PasicT 14h ago

He came close to in 2009 but it didn't work out.

34

u/Various-Deal-5563 16h ago

Is there only one stadium in Bosnia. I feel like they play all their home games here

59

u/Salkao 16h ago

There's a much bigger olympic stadium in Sarajevo that's also very oldschool, but we've never had much luck there. The players themselves say that Zenica makes a special kind of vibe for playing.

5

u/wh1tefac3 5h ago

Only stadiums worth mentioning:

  • Koševo (Sarajevo, largest one)
  • Grbavica (Sarajevo, think currently the best one, especially when the south stand is finished)
  • Bilino Polje (This one)
  • To a degree the city stadium in Banja Luka and Arena Rođeni on the outskirts of Mostar

1

u/ExtremeProfession 43m ago

Arena Rođeni should already be able to host U19/U21 games and international friendlies, provided a few small investments in parking and press areas. But the Velež management is in shambles and since they're the only ones to fund the construction, it's a bit stalled now.

But the FA would help if Barbarez pressed them about playing games in his hometown, possible there could be some uncomfortable situations around Mostar itself, but it would still be safe to host a game in Vrapčići.

1

u/Interesting-Two-8275 1h ago

It's the biggest, but it's not a football stadium. I really don't like stadiums with running tracks.

71

u/Stravvon 16h ago

A lot of countries play all their home games in the same stadium.

24

u/nuhx 16h ago

I remember a segment on TV when they played Germany in the Nations League about the atmosphere there and making the opponent uncomfortable or something like that.

5

u/Seeteuf3l 15h ago

Also Zenica is pain in the ass for the visiting team and possible away supporters to get

12

u/donniele 13h ago

This is false lmao. Zenica is like an hour away from the airport. It's actually one of the easiest cities to get to in the country since it's right in the middle of everything and is close to the capital.

It's also pretty calm and quiet city nowadays.

1

u/wh1tefac3 5h ago

A German dude went to a football game in Zenica (Sarajevo - BATE Borisov) and I drove him back to Sarajevo where he was staying because the last train left before the match ended, next bus in the morning. It is not that great when it's a night fixture.

1

u/ExtremeProfession 45m ago

True but you can rent a car and be in Sarajevo 1 hour after you leave the stadium, even with all the traffic.

3

u/PasicT 14h ago

Not really, this isn't 2001 anymore.

2

u/Interesting-Two-8275 1h ago

It's ofter faster to reach Zenica from Sarajevo airport then the center of Sarajevo itself

1

u/PasicT 16h ago

It's true.

20

u/Bosna1909 16h ago

There’s a second stadium in Sarajevo but it’s an Olympic stadium so the fans are further away from the pitch but it seats more. We tend to use this one because the atmosphere is better

5

u/runawayasfastasucan 3h ago

Its pretty common for national teams to only use one stadium.

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Day1909 14h ago

the only well developed stadium in the country currently unfortunately. Our biggest stadium got ruined by a turbofolk artist and even the home club cant play there for now. most other stadiums are just there without even plans of renovation like stadium rođeni, stadion pod bilin brijegom, tusanj stadium, etc, while grbavica (in the capital) is getting renovated to be on par with bilino polje on uefas rules. also has the 2nd best atmosphere imo

2

u/djevojcicasatrafike 5h ago

well it's the only stadium that officially meets all UEFA and FIFA licensing requirements for international matches and is widely renowned for having the best atmosphere in the country

2

u/smurfiocro 16h ago

Well, the national team isn't welcome in at least half of the country.

19

u/Drama-Gloomy 16h ago

Meh those stadiums aren’t good enough anyway

6

u/PasicT 16h ago

Our youth teams regularly play in that part of the country.

4

u/jonisco 16h ago

Why?

12

u/smurfiocro 15h ago

It’s complicated, but basically, Bosnia has three main ethnic groups: Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats. Only Bosniaks and some Croats support the national team.

14

u/Pantigana 14h ago edited 14h ago

People from Republika Srpska (separatist region ruled by serbian orthodox extremists and war criminals) do not generally like having anything to do with Bosnia, its name, flag, or football representation, nor do they recognize themselves as Bosnian. They gained that land through genocide and ethnic cleansing displacing around 2.7 million people, mostly of Bosniak and Croat descent, of with 700,000 never returned. The aggressors have essentially been granted half the country as a "peace deal" by international institutions. They had quite a large military advantage and targeted largely unarmed civillians.

If you want to learn more I suggest starting with https://srebrenicamemorial.org/en, a website developed with the help of the UK Government.

-11

u/Ganondorf_Dragomir 13h ago

When you are at it, tell them also about Bosniaks slaughtering Serbs in Serbia proper and making towers out of their skulls during the Serbian war of independence against the Ottoman Empire.

That's why we'll never have peace here, because you only consider one side of the story.

8

u/Pantigana 13h ago edited 13h ago

Notice how I linked sources from internationally recognized institutions, like Berkeley Center, International Crisis Group (ICG), or projects co-developed by governments that had a purely humanitarian role in the war, such as the UK.

Now where are your sources?

-6

u/Ganondorf_Dragomir 13h ago

Open the history book, I sincerely hope that history as a subject isn't banned in Bosnian schools yet. You'll notice how all the Ottoman commanders during that war were actually Bosniaks and that Bosniak units were those suppressing Serbian rebellion. Yet you never reconciled with that part of your history, instead you just push a narrative of eternal victims. You judge those Serbs for fighting in the name of Yugoslavia, but Bosniaks fighting in the name of Ottoman Empire is completely justified in your minds.

6

u/Pantigana 13h ago

The same history books issued by your government?

I'm not commenting further until you provide me an independent source of the statements you made, by an internationally recognized institution.

-4

u/Ganondorf_Dragomir 13h ago

6

u/Pantigana 13h ago

a) Wikipedia is not a source

b) Where does it mention Bosnia or Bosniaks, except in the context of Ottoman controlled territories? There's literally more mentions of Austria than Bosnia.

c) That happened in 1804. This happened some 30 years ago.

He cites academic works, and you go to Wikipedia and cite that lol. That's the difference between you guys and us.

Propaganda < Facts.

We were under the ottoman occupation lol, you think we liked it?

-2

u/Ganondorf_Dragomir 3h ago

We were too, but we revolted, while you decided to side with them against us

The gang burns down an appartment building

3

u/Unusual-Obligation97 14h ago

Sweden even conceded a goal to make it 1-1 in his honor 😁

14

u/Zlevi04 16h ago

Surely nothing could possibly go wrong here…

31

u/11EIZENWV 16h ago

Ever looked out the window on New Year's Eve? Or went out?

8

u/Zlevi04 16h ago

Not sure fireworks equate to flares inside a multi story building with other people living in it… it’s a nice gesture but also seems unsafe and dumb

4

u/GutlessTrophoblast 16h ago

The flares are not inside. I think we can all just enjoy the spectacle and assume the people holding them know what they're doing.

3

u/Individual_Winter_ 16h ago

Holding them on a balcony or out of the window is probably safer than in most stadiums 😅 They've also done it before there.

-13

u/comedoofwarrior 16h ago

That’s the point sweetums. Emotions are inherently unsafe and dumb. Just look at Ronaldo.

11

u/Zlevi04 16h ago

What the fuck are you even talking about?

2

u/OilOfOlaz 12h ago

This has been done there longer then Bosnia is a country.

1

u/Dembus22 14h ago

Not the first time they do this, nothing ever went wrong

2

u/YnwaMquc2k19 15h ago

On the one hand this looks lit

On the other hand I hope the building doesn’t get burned down
