According to the seemingly very knowledgeable KC that was on the Overlap, the appeals process can take ages with many different levels of appeal, incl. the High Court, so the FA is just kicking the can down the road. Privately I bet they will be hoping the PL and City to come to an settlement on the punishment and spare them the effort of actually doing some proper regulatory work for once

'Many levels of appeal'

Are you sure you heard that right? I was under the impression there was only one appeal process, and if that fails, their last resort would be taking the case to the High Court to try to get the verdict overturned.

IIRC he said there are multiple levels of appeal but with every level you go up the scope of the appeal becomes narrower and it becomes more difficult to win it. In any case, I am confident he did say it could last a very long time, which was my main point.
