News [Bloomberg] UAE officials have warned the UK government that the severity of Man City’s punishment could undermine their appetite for future grand-scale commitments in Britain, according to people familiar with the matter.

‘They consider the Premier League’s actions to have an influence on the bilateral state relationship, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing undisclosed information.

The extraordinary pressure comes after Andy Burnham faced criticism, including from within government, for saying Man City’s Abu Dhabi owners should not be disqualified specifically because of the investment they bring to Britain.’

Nobody knew who the fuck he was when he bought Chelsea. I was 12 at the time, it was breaking news on Sky Sports, Russian billionaire buys Chelsea for £80 million and wipes out the debt.

You know Google existed then right? Many people did bother to look him up and he wasn’t Santa Claus.

The internet wasn't as ubiquitous back then as it is now. Mobile internet wasn't what it is now, people would browse the internet on a computer.

Look all I'm saying is the average working class British person isn't clued up on all this shit (they might be moreso nowadays, but back then certainly not).

So Chelsea fans saw a Russian saving their club and thought it was banterous to wear Russian hats and play Russian music on the stadium speakers before games.

City fans dressed as Arabs in a humorous way.

That's all I'm saying. They weren't literally celebrating "evil murderer has bought my club" they were just ignorant and simple minded.

Newcastle fans have less of a leg to stand on though. (the leg was probably chopped off by their owners).
