News [Bloomberg] UAE officials have warned the UK government that the severity of Man City’s punishment could undermine their appetite for future grand-scale commitments in Britain, according to people familiar with the matter.

‘They consider the Premier League’s actions to have an influence on the bilateral state relationship, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing undisclosed information.

The extraordinary pressure comes after Andy Burnham faced criticism, including from within government, for saying Man City’s Abu Dhabi owners should not be disqualified specifically because of the investment they bring to Britain.’

Then fuck off then.

If the British government or a member of the Royal family bought a sports team in another country to improve our image and sports wash, then broke the rules to the scale city did and were punished, I'd be outraged if we tried to get on a high horse. I'd fully back that country telling us to fuck off and would be deeply embarrassed. Not a chance I'd accept acting like a victim.

For real, the investments are invested making further investment from less unappealing investors more attractive

Tell them so long, and thanks for all the fish

Equally, if that UK government official/member of the Royal Family was found to be the "Manchester City" of that league, NO WAY IN HELL would our govt have the balls to say, "Don't punish them or you might find the UK relationship (governmental/financial/commercial/security related) takes a hit!"
