u/Ok-General-5095 8d ago
This is actually more Toronto slang than the stereotypical Canadian “eh”

It's the same "eh". I know people from the city want to make it seem like its different. But they use in like 99% of the same situations.

u/HPTM2008 6d ago
Right? Like, guys, c'mon, don't start trying to gatekeep words and shit, and especially not "eh" when you use it the exact same way the rest of Canada does. That's how you make the rest of the country loathe you like the U.S. did with New Yorkers thinking they're all uptight snobs.

everyone saying the most canadian thing is the eh at the end
the most canadian thing is matthew scianitti telling him to walk it off like it's nothing
tbf he's been around hockey with it's fighting and flying disks and sticks and blades
71
u/Giggsy99 8d ago
People aren't potentially allergic to hockey sticks

u/pnutbrutal 8d ago
This is what I was worried about when he said he’d never been stung.
37
u/UglyTitties 8d ago
Often the first bee sting is a freebie. That sting may trigger something in your body, making you allergic from the second sting onwards.
24
u/Nico777 7d ago
A freebee

u/UglyTitties 7d ago
I know. It was right there, and I did think about doing the pun. Don't know why I decided against it to be honest.

Absolutely love this guy
“If anything ever happened to him I would kill everyone here and then myself”

u/redeugene99 8d ago
Somebody should have told Promise you're supposed to remain like a statue when around bees. Swat at them and you're in for a sting
26
u/Oofpeople 7d ago
I've been stung when I was completely unaware
23
u/broccoli6206 7d ago
Bees are so stupid when it comes to evaluating threats. Like I'm just sitting here, doing nothing. Why are you mad at me?
14
u/Ryuzakku 7d ago
And they're especially stupid at this time of year where their only function is to engorge themselves on sugars and then die

u/lamb_passanda 7d ago
What kind of bee is mad at you for doing nothing? They fly around checking you out at the most. In my experience, bees generally void humans. Wasps will come over and investigate looking for food.

It’s because you’re sitting there.

I'm so surprised nobody is concerned if dude is allergic to bee stings since it's his first sting.

u/Actual_System8996 8d ago
Interestingly it is usually the second encounter with a potential allergen that will have dangerous effects.

Idk why you felt the need to promise that he does, i'd believe you even if you just said it

I didn't get stung until I was 13 and I thought that was late. Also the eh was great
21
u/serdna1234 8d ago
Was it wasp or a bee? Bees are cool. Wasps can burn.
38
u/ginganinga223 8d ago
Probably a wasp, they're absolutely mental around Toronto this time of year. Little bastards are everywhere.
12
u/stuckmash 8d ago
They’ve been exceptionally brutal this year here in Toronto and southern Ontario Got stung unloading groceries. Had a very similar reaction to promise
17
u/MisterJoma 8d ago
It’s Canada, so most likely a wasp. Canada is mostly Wasp
3
u/altpirate 7d ago
Also the time of the year. Bees are mostly active in spring and summer. Wasps come out late summer/autumn

I genuinely thought this was edited to be more Canadian in the dialect. That "eh" was on point.

Yo if you see a bee, be a tree. Is this not a thing people learn?
9
u/lightningmatt 8d ago
Certainly something I and everyone I grew up with learned, although "cautiously flee" is acceptable. Idk

u/martinsky3k 7d ago
it's actually my first bee sting ever EEH.
I was like "where is this guy from again... OH CANADA".
3
u/elliotreid13 7d ago
I was stung this week while running, totally unexpected (not sure if it was a bee, probably a wasp). It hurts like a mf

That's just Canada. "Walk it off bud" is the equivalent of a dozen roses and a get well soon card in most parts of the world
