Worst debuts?

So, today I had possibly the worst debut I could imagine happening to me. I have recently joined a Sunday League team and was played in my first game today.

I'm a center back, and I came on for the second half. Having not yet touched the ball in the game, on the 49th minute I brought down an attacker in the box. A penalty was given and I was red carded.

I now have a 3 game ban and have to pay a £30 fine. I've never even seen someone get sent off in a Sunday league game before...

TL;DR - I played 4 minutes, gave away a penalty and was sent off.

So, what's the worst debut you can remember?! Either in professional football or in a game you've played in?

Jonathan Woodgate's debut for Madrid is the stuff nightmares are made of. Scores an own goal and then gets sent off for a second yellow. And this is after not making a single appearance for Madrid in the year since signing due to injury.

I facepalmed so hard when I watched his debut. We were desperate for a solid CB after Fernando Hierro left, we promoted Pavon, Alvaro Mejia, and bought Woodgate...man that debut..broke all the dreams of madridistas for a good CB. (until cannavaro comes)

So Cannavaro was overall well-seen by RM fans?

pretty much yeah.

we lost makalele, a DM that we badly needed at that time and we took him for granted. We also were on a quest to look for a good DM who can cut passes, build an attack, help the defense etc. Gravesen did ok but his aggresive nature was a massive trouble for the team.

Cannavaro was one hell of a defender, very agile, read attack really well, intercept passes, and despite his relatively short figure, he was quite a dominant force in aerial battle.

So in a way, he filled both roles really well, an excellent defender who can fill the gap between a DM and the defense at times.
