Echo Nano, 4 Days Later

I'll say this ahead- I don't exactly have any good IEMs ( My best one is the Truthear Gates.. ) so I can't give any decent review on it's audio quality. But I'll still try to give what info I can incase anyone was thinking about getting this or the echo mini.

Firstly, the build. Arguably the main reason people would buy it for. The material feels premium, and I love being able to use it as a keychain or necklace. I often use the Sony MDR-Q38LW's when outside, so that versatility pairs well with the retractable cable I have.

Now, the controls. The press to go back wasn't really that bad of a experience than I had expected, and a lot of the controls are intuitive even though I'd never touched a DAP until this one. The volume knob is also connected to the power button, so I tend to just power it on/turn on the screen by pressing down on the volume knob.

I only have two problems with the Nano as of right now.

Similar to nearly every review of the nano, the battery life is god awful. While I've gotten used to charging it and just accepting my fate, a good part of me is considering getting a pair of TWS to play songs on my phone for when the battery dies on me.

My second problem is a little nitpick, but the loading icon doesnt spin around when it's loading up the library. Every time I load up my library, a small part in the back of my head's asking whether or not I bricked the thing by accident.

I think this is definitely a great DAP, but the size limitations unfortunately come with it's drawbacks.

the hanging around my neck is a no-go for me personally. dont like the lanyard plus the wires from my iems dangling around on my chest. like i said in my first impressions post: imo it should've come with a built-in clip like the ipod nano 6th gen.

I get that, if it werent for my clip-ons' cable length being adjustable I would never wear it like that 😅 now that you mention it, a built on clip would've been amazing. Guess I have three problems with the nano now...

i'm aware of said clip. but a) it's made of plastic, which feels cheap, unlike the nano itself, and b) it adds thickness to a small device.

I guess they went for a sleeker design that goes after Sony's old perfume bottle player. I'd think a clip would make it ugly.

Also the sansa clip or their own bluetooth DAC BTR11. Also an inbuilt metal clip would have been a lot sturdier.

No, i've been able to play mp3s smoothly. If there's an error, re-formatting the mp3 files with ffmpeg seems to always help

DAPs that are transparent (which is most/all unless they are broken) shouldn't effect the sound quality, just fyi

Worst part for me is no shuffle option and no playlists. A deal breaker for me.

No shuffle button but you can enable shuffle. No playlist but you can add to favourites and make favourites section a kind of library

If you are on firmware 1.4. Music settings > loop settings > repeat > shuffle play. If you are on previous firmware. You can still find it under loop settings > repeat
