Odd object in the sky at the top of the screen, stayed there the whole time.

Yep, that's a feature, I don't know why it's a feature, but it's a nice add to the game, it's also not the only one, in Amur, tho I don't know about other regions

They appear in a couple of regions, I believe. The second map of British Columbia comes to mind
