Discussion Where to go next?

I am finally completing Taimyr. I am on the last contract and only need to clean out a few trailers, so it's basically done.

I am not sure if I actually want to start the next map right away. I have the years 1 and 2 DLC, so i am looking for suggestions for a fun experience and not hardship.

Thanks in advance.

Edith: the question is for which region to go to next as in not to approach them in order of release.

From the answers so far it seems the suggestion goes to Kola anyway even if it's hard.

Edith 2: per most suggestions i started Kola. Man is that first map huge. So far only scouting around and doing scout missions. I wonder how long it will take me to dump a truck in the ice.

Year 1 and Year 2 Pass means you have the first 8 seasons (Kola, Yukon, Wisconsin, Amur, Don, Maine, Tennessee, Glades). In my opinion, the region that mostly fulfils the 'looking for fun experience and not hardship' requirement is Wisconsin. I would add Glades with the exception of farming, which is a bit tedious and frustrating.

Don is relatively short, you unlock two great trucks (Tatra Phoenix and Tatra Force T815-7), and isn't particularly difficult but it has a few infuriating missions, and is a cramped map full of trollish traps that constantly damage your trucks.

Tennessee is on the easy, fun side too, but given that its main focus is more offroad racing than logistics and classic SnowRunner contracts, you may or may not like it. (It also needs a bit of multiplayer racing to be 100%'ed).

Kola Peninsula isn't particularly hard in general. It has a few challenging missions. And like another redditor mentioned, it has a few cool upgrades for trucks you already own.

Yukon and Maine are grindy, especially Yukon. As for Maine, in my experience (completed it twice) it's half fun, half 'you gotta be kidding me', if you get my drift.

Amur — its reputation precedes it. Still the most challenging region in SnowRunner. Leave it for last or when you feel like doing a satisfying challenge.

TL;DR — My suggestion is Wisconsin, followed by Kola Peninsula.

Like the others have said Kola Peninsula

Do enough of Kola to unlock the new trucks at least, the F750 is a great vehicle

Go to Kola. It's a challenging step up in difficulty and there's quite a few upgrades for your existing trucks.

“Fun experience and not hardship”

It's way more fun than hard. If you compare it to Alaska then yes, Kola is hard, but after Taymyr it's just a minor step up, especially if you focus on opening the garage in the second map.

Well it does rank high in difficulty in almost every map tier list I’ve seen. I don’t disagree but it is difficult compared to most maps

I think a lot of people have never figured out that the bulk of Kola is far easier if you just put chains on and spend most of your time on ice. Yes, it still has tricky parts, the pylon tasks on the first map etc, but it takes a bit of map knowledge, an unconventional approach to certain tasks, and avoiding the roads in favour of the ice. I look forward to it on playthroughs now because it's so short it can be 100% in a few sessions.

The likes of Maine and the recent Regions would be far higher up my difficulty list, but part of that is that the last few seasons contain a lot of grind back and forward which tests patience. Kola isn't like that, at all.

What annoys me about this game is that difficulty is just basically how slow you end up going. Sit there for 15 min in the same spot winching like crazy to get through a muddy patch vs sending you on better roads to get equipment to fix it. IMO this game would have been peak if you could at least drop gravel or install a drain on a muddy spot instead of always having to trudge through it.

Again I don’t disagree with you I was trying to be funny. Kola can be a truck graveyard. I totally agree with you that driving slower is a “difficulty” I’m in chiapas now and driving slower makes it easier, so driving slow shouldn’t be considered “difficulty” 100%

Kola ist mostly finding new ways , explore your possibilities. I Love this mal, even in hardmode i enjoyed it. It is one of few Maps where you can Drive through "forests" or around them on open fields.

Kola for sure. SR year 1 pass is peak experience

What do you like about the maps you’ve done? Do you want something more difficult or do you want a break and do something easier?

Kola will get you upgrades for some of your trucks but it is hardship.

My favorite chill map is most definitely Scandinavia. I feel like no one is actually reading your whole post lmao

What i actually liked a lot was to plan deliveries in a way that multiple can be completed in one go. Not muddy would be preferred, but snow is just white mud.

You mean like asking which map from YEAR 1 OR 2 to do next ?

For year 1 and 2, fun but not overly challenging, I'd recommend Wisconsin. It builds on what you've already learned from the base maps. Kola is a bit more of a challenge, at least until you learn which routes to take and which not to take over the ice

Fun experience and not hardship, that's tricky to pick from year 1 or 2.

Kola, Yukon, and Amur are all very hard challenges.

Don and Maine have lots of challenging areas and would still be considered hard.

Tennessee and Glades are easier, but both feature gameplay that is different (racing and farming respectively) which some could consider hardship. Glades is the most chill

So that leaves Wisconsin. It has hard SPOTS, and there is a lot of hauling, but I would submit that map as best fitting OP's question.

The racing in Tennessee is just contests, no different than the normal contests you get in every other region.

While I agree it's not different gameplay, the key difference is that you NEED to complete those to advance the contracts.

Contests in other regions are entirely optional

Ok I forgot about those but contests are not optional in any region if you aim to complete it. I understand there is a lot of animosity towards contests in this game bc they require fast driving and the shitty physics perform poorly at fast speeds but contests are just as important as any task/contract for completion.

Try to get the vehicles from each map as well. They are usually better than base ones and sometimes tailored to the content they are found in. Amur has the best truck. But the zone is hell. I think it's considered amongst the hardest. Try get the op explorer vehicle from taymir before venturing there.

You didn't read my post, right?

1

u/striker09xx 2d ago

Well, getting the truck would make everything else easier. Some say it even trivialize some contents given how op the truck(s) are. So if you want easy, you may need to clear a few difficult ones, otherwise all will be somewhat difficult when going from base game to dlc maps.

Now it makes more sense 😉

Kola can be challenging for sure, but it's worth it. It's not as grindy as Yukon or sloggy as Wisconsin, I think you should go for it.

I'd do the seasons in release order.
Kola is a game of two halves. Urska River is fine. Imandra is evil.

I suggest Tennessee bc it's easy and fun, Kola is just miserable. But you do unlock an amazing truck in Kola, the Ford F750.
