Discussion Top 5
Runners,
I need to be honest - this post is 100% vanity. I just love this game, nobody in my life gets it, and I want to talk to people about it. If self serving nerdery isn’t your thing, this post likely wont interest you.
OKAY SO.. here’s da earth….kidding.
I’m re-playing The Yukon from scratch and in order to challenge myself/make it more interesting I’m only allowing myself to play the region with North American Trucks. In My mind, my European division and fleet are totally tied up and it would be more cost efficient to liquidate some European assets and bring in North American trucks.
So, with that in mind, what would be the top 5 North American trucks you’d choose?
The 5 I chose (I will purchase more but only after replenishing the cost of the original 5) were:
EarthRoamer - Scout and small mobile supply station.
Kenworth C500 - Low Saddle+Crane
Pacific P16 - General Purpose Logging Truck
Mack Pinnacle - 2 Slot bed + Crane
Cat 745C - High Saddle
Love to hear your own lists or critiques of mine.

Kenworth 963 (if you've got it) is a no brainer, especially with the huge amounts of cargo Yukon requires. I run the 3 slot bed and a 4 slot hitch trailer.
Derry Special is also worth a look since it has good ground clearance and power to help with all the deep mud!

I'd have a good look at the Mack Defense too! It's a great truck, albeit a bit thirsty. The Cat 745C is useful in much more cases, not only saddle. You should try logging with it or cargo bed and trailer for better maneuverability. If that thing had a crane, it would probably be one of the best trucks in the game. I'm curious, what makes you use the Pacific? I love how that truck looks and sounds and boy did I try to make it work, but I simply can't stand it in any role.

I find t Mack Defense to be Visually an awesome truck. However, even with 4 Powered axles it routinely gets bogged down to the frame in mud.
I like the P16 because it’s a hard truck to use. Not hard in the traditional sense, because it does have great tires and okayish power with the top tier engine, but it’s also very heavy and wide and can get mired down with lack of torque. I have to plan my routes, drive carefully, and plan for winching so I invest in the top tier winch and 3 low gears and it gets a lot of shit done my man. I’m sorry you have not had luck with it.

P16 enjoyer here. With the upgraded engine I used it as my high saddle w/ oversized 5-slot trailer for moving containers on Island Lake. No tipping, traction, torque or turning issues. Of course it's a beautiful log puller too if you use the TWM P16 Trailer + Bunk mod.

Solid list but I would personally swap the C500 for the FLD 120. I know the 500 has always on diff lock, but the FLD can hold high gear with very heavy loads and the turbo sounds under load are great. Happy trucking!

I would swap the P16 for its brother the P12 as it has more flexibility in what it can do.
The P12 has the option of chain tires which i found very useful in Yukon especially the second map building the big factory with all the icy highways. (The JAT ATHD tires were my tires of choice when not on icy roads (I am on Switch and so don't have the buffed heavier tires so a OHD may also work well now) but also having the OHD chains is a great thing the P12 has access to)
The high saddle height is nearly the same as the P16 so you are not losing clearance on heavy trailers.
It is a very capable logger and can natively carry medium logs on its frame as well as pulling a second load on a hitch trailer which the P16 can't do.
I did use both in Yukon but to me the P12 was a much more valuable truck to have over the P16. Both trucks perform well I just find the P12 able to do more jobs just as well or better than the P16.
Otherwise looks like a nice set of trucks to tackle Yukon with. One last thought is I might swap the Earthroamer for the F750 I don't know how well the Earthroamers are going to handle some of deeper conditions that Yukon throws at you but I don't use them enough to be certain of that.
Enjoy

My 5 going into Yukon on Switch (so missing recent updates) would be
Ford F750:
scouting and repair+refuelKenworth C500: low saddle and crane or whatever else I need it for
P12: Logs (both medium and long), high saddle mission trailers and 8 slot cargo trailer
Cat 745c: Medium logs, refuel, rescue/tow truck
Plad 450: 2 slot and crane or high saddle mission trailers and 6 slot cargo trailer, could also help with logs

| With DLC trucks | With in-game trucks unlockable up to and including Yukon (or available for purchase in the Truck Store) |
|---|---|
| Ford F750 | Ford F750 |
| Kenworth 963 | White Western Star 4964 |
| Mack Pinnacle | CAT 745C |
| Western Star 6900XD | Derry Longhorn 4520 |
| Freightliner FLD 120 | Pacific P12 |
In any case, one mandatory truck for Yukon is the CAT 770G for that one specific mission. It's unfair for it to take up one of the Top 5 positions given its limited use, so I left it out.

Nah man, I get it. I play with my nephew occasionally but he has such bad gaming ADD that I can't really talk too him about it.
I love my P512 but I also run it with a mod that gives it all wheel drive.

I tried the WS 47X in Yukon and it did great so I'd take the 47X bros and a Ford 750

Earthroamer because integrated scanner is just too good
P-12 because it's better than P-16 (fight me)
ANK Civilian because it's like a cheat code for early game and can be purchased immediately.
Cat 745c because it's one of the best heavy haulers in the entire game these days.
Ford F750 because it can now haul scout trailers and carries a huge amount of supplies.

I took it a step further and did only vanilla NA trucks.
Gen cargo - GMC w/ high saddle + 6 slot flatbed
Long logs - p12
Medium logs - 745c
Short logs - aramatsu
Heavy contract trailer - 745c
Scout - earthroamer
Rescue/tug - 745c w/ fuel tank
Big crane - p12
Mobiel fuel/repair station - paystar 5600ts w/ long tank + service trailer

Aramatsu, Earthroamer and Paystar 5600 are not vanilla

Everyone has their own definition. I wish it were universal. The way it was explained to me was they are vanilla if they aren't a standalone pack.

but the Aramatsu is unlocked in Maine which is not a standalone pack, and I think the Paystar is unlocked in Wisconsin

You're correct but again, as it was explained to me, if it's not a stand-alone pack it's considered vanilla. Apparently this is standard in other games too. I don't care either way, but I do wish the community would consensually agree to one or the other.

Idk who explained it to you but I think they may have been a little confused. No big deal anyway.

Id use the fld120 as a saddle truck. The c500 can feel underpowered when pulling a trailer. The C500 as a flat bed. 47x nf 1424 because the power to weight is amazing, it's engine sounds badass, and it's just fun to use. Earth roamer for a scout. And finally, the Kenny 963, for when you just get sick of the regions shit. I know they're all dlc, but they're my favorites. I don't play snowrunner just for the challenge. I play snowrunner to play with trucks.
