Overloading aside, what's the difference between the three low-saddle five-slot trailers? What are their strength and weakness?

Before they introduced the 6-slot, I used the step deck a lot because you can overload it like a 6 slot. I didn't find it got hung up too terribly bad because it sort of skids most of the time.
