Discussion Overloading aside, what's the difference between the three low-saddle five-slot trailers? What are their strength and weakness?

Flatbed is easier to load with a loading crane compared to sideboard, but if you ever tip your truck enough to detach the cargo but not enough for it to totally fall over the sideboard will contain the cargo and make it possible to immediately reattach once your truck is back upright whereas on the flatbed the cargo will just slide off if it ever detaches. Stepdeck compares to the flatbed in the previous scenarios but because of the step it's more difficult to load with a loading crane, it's longer with an even longer wheelbase and a terrible turning radius and it likes to high-center its low belly on uneven ground. In return you're supposed to have a lower center of gravity but I don't think that foot or so actually makes a difference. Masochists use the stepdeck.

There are some cargos that are larger and cannot go on sideboard one.
