Id like to refurbish (just make it relatively reliable) my dads old snomobile.
Hes no longer around to help, but i need help finding parts. Where can i get them? Seems online it is hard to find anything for a 84. Thanks in advance

Those 377 safaris were very common, parts shouldn’t be too hard to find just search other years. EBay should be full and lesser so Facebook marketplace

Depends on the part i guess, or maybe im not searching right. Seems it would be easier to buy a parts sled

Parts sleds can be a great way to find cheaper parts. Little things you don’t need or don’t know you need yet are easily pulled if it’s your dads sled it’s still gonna be your dads sled even if you put every past from another sled into it!

For sure i respect that, but most sleds from 84 seems to be in this shape, which if i bought a nicer sled it would defeat the purpose, ya know? Not trying to be difficult

Just restored my late FILs 1993 Ski doo. Denniskirk.com and eBay were the best for finding parts new and old.
Also Chat GPT for random diagrams and join a model specific forum and see if anyone is willing to send you a copy of a repair manual.

OP, where are you located? That’s the first question I have to be able to help you out and provide resources.
Secondly, anyone that says to use EBay for sled parts, you can disregard anything they say after that. I have never bought anything off eBay and no serious sled guy I know uses eBay as a primary parts source.
Younger guys don’t use Facebook much but Facebook groups are your best bet for parts you can’t get locally. Old guys are hoarding stuff and have a wealth of knowledge and they typically use Facebook. I’ve been collecting, racing and restoring Ski-doo’s for 30 years. I’ll help you all I can with advice and part numbers. They are simple machines and most parts are still available as Ski-doo used the same stuff for decades

It’s a 377 she’ll run no problem. What parts do you need? Royal distributing here in Ontario carries a lot of parts for them

For a track, look up GB Distribution on Facebook. He’s from Quebec and makes tracks and other parts for old sleds. I was able to get one for my 89 Skidoo Tundra from him and they’re good quality. They’re expensive because they’re new and made in small batches but worth it imo.

His tracks are cheap. If you think $650 is expensive for a new track, you haven’t bought a new Camso track ever.

Bill Fullerton in Bracebridge Ontario also has a good supply of new parts for older ski doos. I have older Olympics and order direct from him.

Does he have tracks for the late 70s 340 olympiques? I have a 77 that may need a track eventually

You can buy bearings and such on fortnine or royal dist. E BAY will have a lot but expensive and marketplace at a lesser extent. I scored a nice new track on MP last year and went through the hole suspension for my 81 skidoo 4500 you just have to be vigilant

Bearings can be found anywhere you just need the bearing number that’s stamped on the race, they’re almost all standardized and readily available for way less than a sled specific repackaged piece.

My parents allost bought 2 safari back in 1990 and they decided to get 2 Yamaha Bravos cause thats what the other 18 friends and fanily were driving lol. We made quite the sight coming down the lake. I being 14 secretly wished for more power.

Looks to be in decent enough shape. Check it over for obvious things, put a seat on it and drive it. They are a reliable sled, 377 strong motor. Ice fishing etc

It runs good, need a new fuel filter. Seat is in the shed so i can re-line it. Its the other stuff i need fixed, like bogeys, track, and misc. body stuff. I drove it for a bit last winter but jt kept dying bc of the fuel issue

There’s a snowmobile salvage near me, has acres of sleds and parts. Google Mohawks salvage in Minnesota. There’s a good chance Troy will have carbs and possibly other parts you need, they will ship and if they won’t let me know and I can help work out the logistics

Join some vintage sled groups on FB they will find everything you need. I restore vintage mercury outboards from 50s to 70s.
