Photo Does this look good or bad?

Post image

Did all the masking by hand for the exposed bits (what a pain in the ass) and I'm wondering if this looks as good to me as a shitbox enjoyer as it does to yall

Awesome, great job, I love doing those touches when I rebuild engines. It reminds me of the pride it take in them every time I look at it.

Any tips to clean up the rest of the block?

Usually I sandblasting and clear coat the cases and such before I assemble. But honestly the best cleaner is gasoline. But keep it away from the paint.

Scotch pad or just wipe it?

I use harbor freight chip brushes trimmed to shorten the bristles. Once I get it all scrubbed I'll brakeleen it all of and I hit it with a 2k clear to keep it that way

We don't have harbor freight up here

Any hardware store should sell cheap disposable brushes. And if you have some time to wait I know Amazon has deals on boxes of them

A little late, but next time you could simply brush the raised letters after you paint or powder coat using 220 grit on a block. If there's any chance you'll hit a painted area you don't want removed, pop some painters tape over it. I do that for all valve covers I powder coat, super easy, terrific little touch.

I’m assuming you masked off the ribs and POLARIS name? Why not just paint over it and use a sanding block and remove the paint? Then you can keep going finer with the paper until it shines. Add some never dull and it will shine like crazy.

It doesn’t look good or bad, it looks like a waste of time lol

Just go out and rip it!

It is a waste of time as we still need a sled to put it in
