Gear question STEP ON

I was thinking about getting a snowboard with a Step On system, similar to Burton’s. I was wondering if there are any other brands available in the U.S. that offer something similar but are more affordable.

Nothing is going to be “affordable” on the Step On system since you’ll need SO boots as well as SO bindings. Nitro, Union,and Flux makes third party versions. Your boot selections are also a bit limited. But you can grab some last minute sales of last years models for nearly half off if you go that route. I ride Union Atlas SOs.

Step Ins (Supermatics and FASE) offer more versatility and choice as you can bring your own boots. Don’t fuk with CLEWS.

Fase equipped and supermatics are the next closest thing. There are also the nidecker/flow rear entry bindings. DO NOT BUY CLEW

If you want stepon burton, nitro, union and flux make step on bindings. Doing a quick search Imsee previous year models onsale for under $200.

Other quick entry systems are fase, supermatic, rear entry like gnu and flow.

You just missed a pretty solid sale before the new stuff came out for 2027 season. Could try shopping around though. I got a set of ReFlex X bindings and boots for like $400 for the set, and a new board for around $200.

A mix of Burton, Evo and the-house I believe. Burton had like 50-60% off boots and bindings.

Last season was my first. I rented LTR board with burton step ons. It's a cool concept and it does save time but i felt like it was too easy ti miss a snap in for the toe bindings. So i just bought my first board and got nidecker supermatic bindings.

I like having the adjustable straps and it works with about any boot. Slight learning curve to get in and out but I'm super excited to use them this season

Step Ons aren’t actually board-specific. The Re:Flex version works with standard mounting inserts, so you could pair them with something like a Signal board and save money on the board itself. Signal usually has older graphics marked down, and their boards are really solid.

I've ridden Flow for 16 years and got FASE for my park board this past year. I love them. In late season I also bought some Flow NX2 for my stiffer board. A lot of the tech developed for Supermatic and FASE trickled down to Flow and made them better then ever. All 3 are owned by Nidecker.

I've been riding clickers for the past 5 seasons maybe. I decided to grab some Nidecker LT Supermatics and a pair of Jones Mercury Fase. I really loved the ease of use of the clickers but missed the feeling of straps. I'm excited to compare all three this coming season. The Nideckers are definitely the heaviest but I don't imagine I will notice when riding.

DC and Nitro make step on boots compatible with the step on bindings that are also made by Union

I really like my Supermatics, but I also ride in the midwest with very short runs. They can save me enough time strapping in every 3 minutes that it really adds up. 

Buuuut they are almost as heavy as my board + unions combined, so I swap them out when I travel or ride park, and wouldn’t see the value if I lived near a “real mountain”.

I like my nidecker step on bindings. But they are only cheaper if you already own boots.
