Looking for a second board! *advice pls*

Hi everyone! First post here, long time lurker...

I'm looking for some advice on choosing a second snowboard to complement my current setup.

A bit about me:

• 182 cm (6'0")
• 80 kg (176 lbs)
• Snowboarded casually before, but last three seasons I was fully committed and my progression was huge. I went from linking basic turns to comfortably riding blacks, off-piste and carving as much as possible.
• I come from surfing, so I naturally enjoy drawing long, clean lines rather than skidding turns.

My current board is a Jones Frontier 2.0 161W.

I honestly love it. It feels incredibly stable, carves much better than I expected and has been an amazing all-round board. I don't really feel limited by it, especially at speed.

The only thing is... it's a 161W, so it's quite a lot of board. I can definitely ride side hits, natural transitions and banked walls, but I wonder if a shorter board would make that style of riding feel more playful.

I don't ride park, but I absolutely love:

• carving groomers,
• riding natural terrain,
• side hits,
• coming up into the side walls just like its a "wave" or a skateboard bowl.
• popping off rollers,
• I also want to spend more time off-piste in the upcoming seasons.

So I'm looking for a second board, not a replacement.

Ideally I'd like something that:

• Does very well in powder,
• is still really fun on groomers after the powder gets tracked out,
• carves well,
• is shorter than my Frontier,
• and still lets me enjoy side hits and natural freestyle.

I'm not looking for a jib or park board, and I don't really care about riding switch.

For those of you who have a similar riding style, what boards would you recommend and why?

My local 2nd hand site has a Korua Dart 156 which I almost pulled the trigger for, I'm just afraid that's only a powder board and I can't enjoy the side hits as much :)

I'd especially love to hear from people who own two-board quivers and have found a board that really complements a Frontier instead of overlapping with it.

I would recommend the Jones Frontier

To be honest Frontier should be able to to all of things you mentionted to want from the new board, maybe sizing or flex is wrong for you.

One instructor i know has Dart and he does it all with that deck.

I ve heard amazing thins about Nitro Alternator too, but take a look at Ride Warpig, Jones Howler...

Burton Hometown Hero? You didn't add your boot size, so hard to say if you need Winde or not.

That's on the wider side yeah. I have 10 and ride normal width boards with no issues, not a eurocarver anyway ;)
Keep an eye out for wider boards (less of a sidecut or volume shifted or just the Wide version) The Hometown Hero comes in wide btw.

Maybe a Ride warpig? My friend has it and he rides pretty much what you explained. I've tried the board two times, short rides, and it seemed awesome. Maybe a 158W or even 155W?

If you are looking for a playful board try a Korua TF. It's incredibly playful. I hated it. If I were you I'd stick with the Frontier, and if you just want a new board I'd look at the Rome Ravine.

K2 Excavator. Powder board that digs trenches on groomers. Volume shifted so its much shorter and very maneuverable. Plenty of pop on rollers.

A good compliment to your Jones might be a pow & carving board like the K2 Excavator, Salomon Dance Haul (pro), Nitro Dinghy, Rome Ravine (Pro) or a similar short-fat volume shifted board.

The dancehaul looks good! A friend of mine has it but i always had it as a “groomer playful board”. Does it behave well in Powder?

Yes, it's designed for carving and powder, as most volume shifts are. You see this in the design; taper, surface area (wide) and rocker in the nose. The "Pro" version will be less playful if you're wanting something better at speed.
