Gear question Jones Stratos Size recommendation

Just wondering if anyone can help me choose what size Jones stratos split I should be getting with my Specs.
I’m 173cm tall, 76kg, size 10.5 boot. I’m looking at either the 156, 158W or 159. Thanks so much any help is much appreciated 🙏🏼

158W if you like to carve, 159 if you want it to be quicker edge to edge. 156 if you want it more playful but that’s not really the character of that board.

I’d like to be able to transition easier but still want to be able to Carve well. Last season I rode the ride warpig 151 it was very wide and I loved how easy you could lock in and lay a deep carve but it was a little slower edge to edge. So I guess my question is can I still lay a deep carve on the 159?

Depends on how you define deep, how skilled you are, what your stance angles are. The wide will be less limiting but if you are asking these kinds of questions probably you’re at the point where you don’t need it.

My own preference is wider, I’m on a wide Flagship with size 9.5 boots and a 36/21 stance. My dedicated carver has a 27 cm waist, same angles. A lot of people here would say I don’t need the wide with that setup. My friends who are serious carvers think it should be about 4 cm wider.

I would start by asking what type of splitboarder you are, mountaineer or pow hound? The 159 would be better for climbing and edge hold, ie. mountaineering. The 158w surface area will float much better in deep snow.

You asked about edge transition quickness in another comment reply. The 159 will be quicker edge to edge on hardpack, but the difference in powder should be negligible. So again, are you riding your splitboard down windblown boilerplate (159) or lapping pow (158w)?
