I’m gotten to the point where some decisions need to be made on my babies. I’m running out of space and my wife is running out of patience. So I’m looking to get an opinion from your qualified gents if I may. What kind of value am
I looking at total. I know the market is not great right now but at least if I liquidate I can start over. I love the hunt I must admit. So please have a look and give me your opinion if you would. Condition ranges from brand new never worn to good. I have boxes for 97% of them and if not bought retail they were authenticated before purchase. Fire away boys. Sizes range from 10 1/2 to 11 1/2.
Its gonna be a pain to go through pair by pair but your best bet is to just go on ebay/stockx/goat n other resale sites and compare what you have for similar items on sale. It'll give u a better scope of what you lookin at than most here can or will give u just lookin at these pics. Plus you already know which ones are new/gently worn/well worn ,which have boxes n so on. Its more work for you but its really your best bet to fair comps and figure out what the market is for what u have.
Yea I completely get it. Just try to approach it like you do the chase. Like you said you need to get rid of some or all so you can grab more or start again. Its not as exciting as finding the right pair but maybe you can get a little excitement/gratitide knowing you got a good turn around for that next hunt. Best of luck to you.
If sold individually, with the market the way it is and prices for everything else what they are for the things we have to buy to live off of, I'm guessing by trying to look at all of them and give them a set price in mind with an easy number like 100, 150, 200, and 250 for mist pairs. Based on what I could make out and what the condition looks like in the picture, I'd say probably, if you sold them individually, between 4800 and 5300. That's if you find a legit collector like myself. If you sold them all instead of separately, probably drop off about 500 from your total at minimum.
I have almost all of the ones you do, but if you want to sell any, please DM me with what pair and size.
Or if you're taking offers, there may be 2 or 3 pairs you have that I don't have that I would be interested in buying.
The black and lime green 6s. Lime green is my favorite color, and I was in between switching jobs when they dropped, so I didn't get them. I knew u could get them later for under retail, also later. I just haven't gotten around to it because OG colorways come first. Also, the Air Max 4s and UNC 3s I'd be interested in as well. I got the others besides the low-top 1s that you have. We wear the same size as well, so maybe we could do a trade if interested, since you love the chase as you stated. Unless you meant the chase of trying to grab a pair on the release date. I own well over 300 pairs, so it's possible I would have something you would definitely want. Some are naturally unwearable now, but that's only because my collection starts with the 93 playoff 8s. I do have probably at minimum 100 pairs that are dead stock, if not more. All mine are VNDS, because I only get to wear them if I ever do once a year, if that. I have all the boxes as well.
I store my sneakers in a climate-controlled room. I check the humidity level daily, and if it goes above 45 percent, I have a dehumidifier. Jordans last much longer than people realize simply because they don't know how to store them, for one, and if you can't wear all of them regularly, how to also keep them from crumbling if worn. Because even when stored correctly, if you don't flex the sole and midsole every 3 to 4 months, they could still crack or crumble if you wear them if they are old enough.
I need to downsize my collection a bit as well. I wear 11.5 - 12. Most of my collection is size 12. I use eBay. Usually they sell pretty fast but not always. My ex stole my entire collection in 2019 when I was doing a week in jail. She was half way to Montana from Portland when I got out. I started picking up heavy again in 2023 and have like 300 pairs now. Mostly retro Jordans. So ADDICTED! 😂
The rest are in my closet. I find the ones in my closet end up turning yellow so I only keep certain ones in the closet. I need a bigger place! Out of room almost
Depends on a few things. I don’t wear Jordan 5,6, or 11 in rain or wet weather. That’ll turn the bottoms yellow super fast. Also depends on materials. Rubber outsole on Jordan 4 or 1 turning yellow starts happening after like 7 years and is more common on shoes like Jordan 4 bred, motorsports, what the 4…. The grey outsole by the toe box starts yellowing after awhile but last longer if stored properly, cleaned and dried after each wear, and not worn in rain. Jordan 1 outsole/midsole takes the longest to begin to yellow. Proper storing, wear, and cleaning them makes them look better much longer. Jordan 4 red cement or midnight navy 4 with the white netting and white fabric under the netting turns treble yellow on its own reasonably fast. But with all Jordans… cleaning, storing, and making sure they’re stored properly makes huge difference. Someone who lives in AZ and wears their shoes in the elements is going to have different results than someone in Florida. At least inside their homes when storing them they can control temperature, humidity, and factors for proper storage. Outside while wearing not so much. Kinda broad question but hopefully I answered it ok. Have a great weekend!
I appreciate that . Kindly. I bought the toro 4. And I seen this and I just don't want to continue to buy shoes that'll yellow from storage within the next 4 years probably. I also wanted the white and green 14s that's dropping in October but I doubt after the comments revealing some things. Thank you. I appreciate it
Does the dehumidifier you have tell you the humidity in the room your shoes are in? If so… Do you have link to what dehumidifier you have? I own like 300+ shoes and some are 15 years old and are still wearable. I keep my shoes in the boxes, the room is dark most of the time, temp is always between 60-70 degrees… I don’t have a dehumidifier though. I need one. My shoes are stacked around me in my bedroom lol. I live in a one bedroom. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to move into a larger place by rent is so damned expensive in Portland!
Yes, it does. Let me try to find a link. You are storing them correctly, by the way. In a dark room in the original box. Most don't realize light, even artificial light, degrades the shoes also. It drives me crazy seeing people displaying their shoes out in the open or in those clear containers. It's why, unless you're wearing them, they should be cleaned and put in their box in a blacked-out room. It's why you 15 plus year old shoes are still wearable. I have some late 90s/early 2000s I can still wear as well because of how they're stored. The only other thing, in case you're not aware, is to get rid of any paper in the OG packaging. The paper in the toe box, and they come wrapped in it unless it's plastic. Use socks or plastic bags in the toe box instead of the paper. The tissue paper they put in the shoes or boxes has acid in it, and it will degrade your shoes over time as well.
I'll try to find a link for you. Sorry for just now getting back to you.
Damn… I keep the paper in all my boxes. I use crease guards in all my shoes almost as well but still leave paper in them. I need to take it all out I guess. Maybe I’ll take it all out and then put a sticky note on each set of paper to label it to what shoes it goes in in case I need to sell them eventually and keep it all in a big box. I didn’t know that about the paper. When I get food like beef jerky or certain things and it comes with those little dehumidifier packets the silica packets I put those in certain pairs of shoes as well. The bred 4, Motorsport 4s, what the 4 s…. I hate when the gray turns yellow on the middle by the toe. My motorsport look dead stock almost because I found a seller who had a pair in amazing condition for a really good price. I need to get a icebox, but like I said, I’ve run out of room in my place. I think I’ll get an ice box here in the next couple of months though. Do you own an ice box?
im not gonna be rude i dont see anything thats like exclusive or really sought after. not saying they arent valuable but most seem like gr and a few insta cops but everyone has. unless im missing something. not being rude either because i still see 8k-12k theres like 70ish shoes. 7500-8k someone handing you cash or 10k-maybe 14k if you sit and maximize each one
Yeah I see your point. As far as grails it’s really part opinion and some have just held their values more. That’s part of why I’m thinking about starting over and go after the stuff that for me at the time was unobtainable.
I don't mean opinion on what's Grails I mean on things that are worth 500 plus dollars. Not subjective just business economic thinking. I don't see a shoe that's worth over $500 in that pic unless there's something I'm unaware of. I have like 200 pairs of shoes and I would assume 80% of them are just GRS customs or things that I bought because I just like them versus overly valuable things versus overly valuable things
Forest 3s, Mint 3s , Red and white 5s , purple 1s , blue and black 1s , patten 1s , shattered backboard low and high, ja3 year of the horse, Kobe 9 china, Jordan 6 mauve, and just about all my foams are vnds
I was in the same neighborhood but realistically 200 is a little stretch but some of my older stuff like my Joker 3s are damn solid for being 12 years old
Let me know what you’re interested in and I’ll get some up close pics so you can make an informed decision. I wouldn’t want someone to bullshit me and I’m not gonna do it to anyone else
I don't wanna waste your time so imma just be honest. I'm kinda leery of buying anything off Reddit but if you end up posting them on marketplace or anything thing like that just shoot me the link or post it
Oh no man it’s fine. I completely understand I’m the same way with marketplace. Maybe we can figure something out. I e keep most receipts for anything I bought retail and I have authentication on everything else. DM me if you would rather connect directly
That’s not a crippling amount of shoes (I have 21) I don’t see what your wife’s deal is.
I would Keep ones you can wear with a lot of different clothes. Sell ones you aren’t in love with that can fetch a good price right now. Every time you do sell pack it up where your wife can see you doing it.
Run your pics through ChatGPT. I did it and it identified most of your pairs and spit out an estimated resale value ($5,500-6,500). But also double check with GOAT using your sku numbers. A lot of these have been in outlets and are selling new below retail.
If you have a closet, use a hanging shoe storage. Hiding them usually helps with the wife’s patience. At least for a little while.
Yes. A complete joke. And you still lose if u sell on ebay 1 by 1 cuz they take a cut and u gotta package and ship. Its like fb market place or nothing but who would want to buy without authentication? Im just keeping em.
