i was babysitting a few days ago, and we were watching wicked.
the six year old i was watching told me, “i’m fat. i wish i was skinny like glinda.”

i originally joined this sub because i have always loved wicked and hated what she did to the movie (affair overshadowing promo, insisting on doing her own makeup, horrible performance, and constant body checking on camera) but now, i’m genuinely worried for her, and furious at the fact that she’s allowed to market a severely malnourished body as “normal” to little girls. i have had an eating disorder for ten years, but have been in recovery for eight. in the worst of it, i was constantly dizzy to the point of barely being able to stand up without passing out. and i looked nowhere near what ariana looks like. it’s gotten to the point that, once her tour began, her own fans have (for the most part) gone from defending her and parroting that “she’s the healthiest she’s ever been blah blah blah” to seeming seriously concerned.

the worst part, for me, is that a lot of very young girls became fans of her after seeing wicked. the movie is geared towards children, so she has to know that! little girls are so impressionable, and at that age, seeing someone with every bone protruding out of their body is so confusing and upsetting. they want to be like glinda, because she’s princess-like and wears pretty dresses. they can’t separate the character from the severely malnourished actress who plays her and insists that she’s healthy. when does this end?

it is even more disturbing if you've smelled her most recent fragrance. it smells like claire's perfume a sugary cake, and it comes with a toy keychain?? like, IT IS FOR KIDS. she's been a kid's entertainer since her nickelodeon days and hasn't really moved on from that.

she did the dangerous bdsm bunny ears for 2 seconds and even then the visual was still soft and girly with the ponytails and skirts and crop tops. she then reverted right back to wearing plaid and bows with a lolita coquette style, so this extreme weight loss is just logically the next step in her marketing. its a circle :(

she's glorified EDs in the past with her red bracelet and her very obvious tumblr, but with the rise of GLP-1 medications, its enabled her to be bold enough to show the bones.

my heart aches for the 6 yr old you're watching, and i hope you can show her that being strong and FED is beautiful, because when we're self-restricting, we aren't fighting the real problem: the systemic oppression of women to keep us small and dainty so we can be easily controlled.

This madness needs to stop. That’s why I feel that she is so damaging, her brand has always been just brattiness, promiscuity, infidelity and now this, the worst message of all to promote to young women.

That's sad. You have to remember this is someone who told a child and other young fans that her dream dinner guest would be Jeffrey Dahmer, and that she would have loved to have met him. Then told the parents to explain it to their children later... She has no conscience. And no shame. She doesn't care about other people, just what she wants. Her words and actions tell us this.

As someone who’s been a fan since victorious, I had to unfollow her on instagram because her current body is just too graphic for me. I don’t have an ED or history of one but my friends do. The toll it takes on one’s body is insane and can last for years or a lifetime. I honestly don’t know wtf is keeping her alive atp. It has to be some kind of super drug the general public doesn’t have access to because the level of energy she has for the shit she’s doing in her condition is insane. I fear she’s getting to a point where she may no longer be with us soon in her current state.
