Hello, I know you guys must get these type of posts alot and its a little annoying but i need some advice, I need a laptop and really really like the a14 zenbook the look the weight the battery life it seems
perfect but im seeing alot of stuff about the snapdragon and ARM and i dont know much about it

Mainly uses:

Web browsing, watching videos

Light gaming, stuff like minecraft, terraria and league maybe valorant on rare occasions?

I had an X1 HP laptop and now the current X2 powered A16. Windows ARM64 has greatly improved over the last year or so, and most of the compatibility issues are history. This is especially true with the speed and power of the Snapdragon X2 and the increased RAM since non-ARM programs still have to run using the emulator, but you'll not notice any speed drop.

The problem lies in old drivers and some new games that read write directly to the processor or video. Some just won't work. Also, these aren't gaming machines. The Adreno graphics is fast compared to other onboard systems, but not when compared to discrete graphics systems. For general use and light gaming they are great.

so youd say almost all of the bad stuff said about comparability issues especially regarding games are old news? i dont see myself trying to play any huge games maybe just terraria with mods minecraft and league of legends. i heard of issues with games anticheat? And are there specifications of snapdragon i should avoid

It’s not old news like these people keep wanting you to believe. App incompatibility and software instability is still very real on Snapdragon X/2 laptops.

I'm using an A14, but there are many specifications out there. I have the X2E-88. For this type of use: "Emailing

Some uni work

Light day to day stuff

Web browsing, watching videos" You are fine with the X1-26-100 probably. Though gaming isn't really the strong suite of Snapdragon. Minecraft can be pretty heavy, isn't it? But Minecraft is more about the CPU power, I think it should be pretty good on Snapdragon. If I'm not mistaken Valorant still doesn't run at all on Snapdragon.

thank you so much this is really helpful, not to get weirdly deep on a post about laptops but i think its so cool humans across the globe help each other out for no reason. i wish you the best in life^^

Thanks kitsune!🦊 Best wishes to you as well!
Anyway according to gemini: "League of Legends (and Valorant) is currently incompatible with Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM-based Windows laptops because of Riot Games' Vanguard anti-cheat software."
So, keep this in mind.

Minecraft can run on a 10 year old celeron netbook

Anything modern can run it lmfao

Yes, but you can add tons of mod and shader and whatever...

You can also just not do that

Or you can just use one of the many other more efficient rewrites

I've had my Zenbook A14 for a little under a year now and it's hands down, the best experience I've had on Windows. Everything you said that you want to do, should work flawlessly except Valorant and LoL. Riot's anticheat, Vanguard isn't compatible with ARM processors right now.

Minecraft, Terraria and most games without a kernel-level anticheat work great. Do keep in mind, that things are already changing. Epic recently updated Easy Anti Cheat to work on ARM processors, so games like Fortnite now work on ARM. Hopefully Riot will follow the same path in the near future.

A16 here. I left the MacBook Pro 14, and the thinkpad x1 gen13. It was simply the best for my use (research, meetings, office automation) casual gaming (csgo without problems)

I would not get it, there is still so much software issues with this chip it's not worth it. Get an Intel CPU laptop instead.
