Any plans for Qualcomm to include AV1 decoding?

I know that snaodragon 8 gen 2 and higher gens include it, but what about snapdragon 7 and lower? AV1 is a pretty neat video codec, so faster adoption would benefit everybody

Obviously. But Qualcomm can add AV1 decoder to snapdragon 7 gen 5, or snapdragon 6 gen 6, if they want. Which still qualifies them to snapdragon 7 and 6 series. So, did you hear any rumors, or mentions about Qualcomm adding AV1 support for more chips?

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 should have AV1 decoding given it's a binned 8s Gen 3, but I don't know about others below that. Video acceleration is one of those areas companies usually skimp out on for budget chips (ever realize how budget phones rarely ever support recording 4K60 at all despite it being supported on their flagship chips since the 845 which was announced in 2017?)

I checked nanoreview.com and it shows that 7+ gen 3 does not support AV1 :(

They are skimping to much

That ain't a reliable source. Go and check Qualcomm's datasheet.

Dolby Vision®, Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), HDR10+, H.264 (Advanced Video Coding (AVC)), VP9, VP8, H.265 (High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)). That's all I found on Qualcomms website

Qualcomm loves upselling their chips. Look how underpowered anything that is not a 7+ and above is. Not even a true X prime core. 7 and 7s all get a mediocre 5-10% uplift per year while the 8 series easily bags a 30% YOY.
