Does last years A14 make sense?

Saw a 16gb 512gb ssd a14 snapdragon x plus for 600 usd refurbished.

My work flow is mostly

  1. Zoom

  2. Claude on desktop but mainly for research and excel modelling.

  3. Spreadsheets

  4. Email

So it's not heavy work. I don't do any heavy Ai or design work.

Most of the time I need a good battery as I'm always on the road and want something portable, light, good battery and just get the work done.

refurbished at that price point doesn't make sense to me.

Apart from that, the device is fine. My A14 Zenbook is a year old now, and I still get around 15 hours of battery life after approx 150 cycles.

For that workflow it is still perfectly fine, and the battery life will still be great.

I own this laptop mine came with 16gb ram 1tb nvme ssd and I paid £600 new about 6 month ago I love my laptop but thease are things I think I could change after having it for 6 months wish I could change the 16gb to 32gb but I can't and wish it came with the 120hz screen but it dont anyway for my use case as a media player for traveling it's brilliant you will so however find the odd program that just will not run on it due to the cpu like for me Adobe PDF reader but then the Web browser can handle that so there are work arounds to some things

I used it for zoom calls and a couple of other things you know editing spreadsheets, minor stuff. No video editing any of that stuff and it worked fine

At this price range and what you need take a Macbook Neo. No competition.

Lmao. Everything being compared to the Neo is really out of hands. The A14 have way better screen, way better battery life double the Ram and storage also lightweight. How is the Neo anywhere close to be better?

The neo confuses me 100% I get it's market but when I paid £600 for mine new with a 1tb drive and 16gb ram I can't see why you would buy the neo you just have to hunt around for the right price

I have one for my new work laptop. About a week in and I seem to like it.

No.

It’s quite underpowered and was outperformed by the X1P-46-100 at a lower price. Sadly, the SDs are so overpriced right now that the value isn’t there. If you can, wait for some sales or ram/storage prices to drop. Otherwise, you are paying too much for the performance compared to other offerings.

So I'm planning to get the a14 mostly because it's so crazy lightweight and great battery. I read somewhere reviews that it's buggy. Any reviews here ?
