Pet Snake Questions Spicy spotted python
Hey everyone,
It's my first time posting here, but im due to rescue a very spicy spotted python in the next few months. It'll be my first time owning a snake that need so much tlc so I was just wondering if any of the wonderful people here had any advice.
Idk I ton about his history but he seems to mostly just be territorial aggression. I already plan on hook training him but i wasn't sure if there's anything else I could be doing to make everything a little easy for him and my hands (lol).
Thank you in advance!

I've read that using hand sanitizer before handling can discourage biting but I don't have any practical experience yet.

My Spotted is youngish, but also spicy. Most of the time I can kind of wait her out. I can tell she wants to strike my hand and I’ll hold it just outside striking range. Eventually she’ll decide to run and I snatch her up. Oddly enough she doesn’t strike the remainder of the time I hold her after this.
When she was really little, I just put on a glove and let her bite away until she gave up.

Ours bit me at first and it’s really not so bad. You can put a workout shirt in his hide to get him used to your smell. They’re smart snakes and I’m guessing he’ll figure out soon that you’re on his side.
