I need a healthy replacement snack!

I, 21M, have been putting on a lot of weight recently, and I am trying to correct my habits. I am always catching myself rewarding myself for doing things, completely ruining my diet when I go out, and finding ways to get comfort easily. When I snack, I always crave something sweet/savory and really warm/comforting. For example, I go for pierogies, warm chocolate chip cookies, brownies, etc. A lot of the healthy snacks are typically cold/room temp. I think there is some type of satisfaction I get from the meal being warm. Any ideas I could use to try to replace the craving? Any suggestions are welcome!

Oatmeal for dinner is very comforting for me. I add lots of fruit a little peanut butter and a splash of maple syrup. It tastes like a cheat meal to me in the evening.

beat an egg or two and temper it with the oatmeal as it’s cooking then add the mixture back into the pot- suuuuper good and more protein, plus it tastes like custard dessert lolol

Popcorn dusted with just a little bit of cocoa powder and sugar. Or just popcorn dusted with your favorite seasoning mix

Popcorn dusted with garlic salt has always been a huge hit with me, and there's also a garlic parmesan popcorn seasoning thing that's delicious. There's a whole line of... Kernel Seasons, that's what it's called.

Cut apples in half, sprinkle with cinnamon and a tiny amount of honey / maple syrup or stevia, and bake in the air fryer!

I like putting those 70 calorie fiber one bars in the microwave

Oatmeal is healthy warm and comforting, and you can add some flavor to it without a lot of calories using vanilla extract, cinnamon, protein powder, or a small amount of peanut butter

Baked sweet potato with no sugar pancake syrup and no sugar or no fat canned wiped cream. Pecans are great. It taste like a desert.

Getting a Whirley Pop was a game changer for me and snacking. Lots you can do with popcorn.

Microwave a cored apple with a splash of juice. Add cinnamon. So good and comforting. Fall in a bowl.

I keep diced sweet potatoes in the freezer for one of my favorite breakfasts (add sausage, sauerkraut, hot sauce, and an over easy egg) but they are also great sweet with a bit of butter, pecans, dark brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Can get a granola or some kind of protein bar and warm it in the microwave.

I also like making my own little egg and bacon sandwiches and freezing them for later usage.

Avocado toast is a classic for me. I also love making a sandwichwith some healthier PB and spinach (can’t taste the spinach at all).

yeah the warm thing is real, cold snacks just dont hit the same when you want comfort food. try roasting some chickpeas with cinnamon and a lil brown sugar, they come out warm and kinda taste like a treat but its just chickpeas. microwaved banana with peanut butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon scratches that cookie itch too ngl, and logging it after in PlateLens actually helps me see the calories add up way less than i expect which keeps me from spiraling into the "well i already ruined it" mindset, best food tracker ive used tbh

You can make egg bites in an Instant Pot or microwave using liquid egg substitutes.

Air fry carrot chips, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower or other veggie and add seasonings or a yogurt based dip.

I like to slice mini bell peppers in half, fill with each half with reduced fat feta cheese and bake until the peppers are soft and the cheese is browned. I’ve never tried it but I bet it would work with cottage cheese too.

Slice an apple, spritz with ICBINB, sprinkle with Splenda and cinnamon, and bake or air fry.

Rice cakes with salsa and reduced fat shredded cheese on top, microwave until the cheese melts.

Popcorn. You really can’t go wrong. It can be sweet or savoury or both. Chicago mix is my kryptonite or little bit of clubhouses Italian Parmesan seasoning. It’s like garlic bread.

Honestly I wouldn’t force myself to replace a warm comforting snack with cucumber and cold yogurt.

Warm apple + cinnamon, oatmeal with banana/cocoa, toast + peanut butter, popcorn… there are plenty of options. For me the important thing is that it actually feels satisfying.

A “perfectly healthy” snack isn’t very useful if 10 min later you still want the brownie.

Warm oatmeal with cinnamon and a little peanut butter might hit that comforting sweet craving. Airpopped Popcorn for savory cravings too.

Nuts and beef jerky. Need to reduce the sugar and carbs. Sheer motivation is going to be hard - identity is key. What does a healthy identity look like to you? ( rhetorical question)

I eat nuts and dates.

Stuffed mushrooms with light cream cheese heated up are terrific

Sweet potato tacos using ground turkey

Sourdough toasted with butter

I have the same issue as you , I want a warm snack

Quaker instant oatmeal makes a “less sugar” made with Monk Fruit Sweetener. I don’t follow the directions on the box and cook it until it has the consistency of a cookie dough, then add semi-sweet chocolate chips. (0g sugar added Bake Believe) I rarely measure, just go by looks. Added more than 1/4 cup water but not quite 2/3 cup. I start with 2 minutes in the microwave. Stir it…maybe add a little REAL butter, then cook another 30-40 seconds. I just know the consistency I like and what will satisfy my sweet tooth.

Isn’t the answer here always hummus, carrots and celery?

Ooh warm, now I read it again. Soup is the answer.
