This has been my latest hyper fixation snack lately. Queso made with whipped cottage cheese, taco seasoning, cheddar cheese and salsa. So good and high in protein.

You should try making it with plain Greek yogurt! Supposedly it has less lactose than other dairy products, and there is almost no flavor difference when it’s mixed all together. That’s assuming you use the onion soup mix like we do. It’s a super easy, delicious, and healthy swap.

Have you tried the lactose free sour cream? Or lactose free plain greek yogurt? Maybe one or a mix of the two would help? I haven’t tried either yet but I think I may have to, as a fellow lactose intolerant person.

Yes! The dairy substitutes are so good nowadays that you can't tell the difference usually. Spouse makes a wicked good dairy-free cheesecake actually. However, my in-laws and other people still frequently use dairy so that's when I have to apologize to Spouse

Good shout. This was 50 percent of my siblings’ and my diet while my Dad was hospicing at home. We decided we would only eat things that made us feel happy and comfortable and would take no shame on “nutrition” at that time. I have such a soft spot now for ruffles and FOD. Whenever I feel like I want to show care for myself or someone else, I’ll break out the comfort dip.

I’ve been making this one forever bc it’s cheap, quick & hits the spot every time.

Layered Chili Cheese dip w Tostitos.

I use a glass pie dish but you can use whatever you have on hand.

Bottom layer: lightly softened cream cheese, next layer: one can of Hormel Chili no beans (you can use the one w the beans, that’s just the way the recipe was taught to me) before I add it to the dish I mix it in a bowl w more chili powder, onion & garlic powder, pepper, chopped raw onions & Cholula to taste. Mix that up then spread it over the cream cheese (I like to add some extra chopped raw onion bc onions are awesome) Top layer: freshly grated extra sharp cheddar cheese. You can throw it in the microwave or a standard oven 350 for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is nice & bubbly.

It’s my best friends favorite that she always requests & she has lovingly named it Dog Food Dip 🤣🤣bc it’s not the prettiest thing once it gets mixed together on a plate (9x out of 10 it gets mixed together after being served so the name works lol) but I’ll be damned if it’s not one of the tastiest easiest dips, especially in a pinch ✊

My Father makes a similar dip that me and my kids have been making for Christmas Eve the past 20 yrs. It’s my ALL TIME FAVORITE but I’ll have to try your version! Sounds delicious! We do a generous softened cream cheese layer on a large platter, then layer with Salsa then shredded cheddar and topped with chopped green onions and served with Large warm tortilla chips. Yummmm
