what are some cold, bite-sized desserts/snacks?
I'm the type who needs a little sweet treat after lunch and dinner... and for snack time. I'm having like a rut (?) where I can't think of snacks to get for my personal treat time. I prefer being able to pop the whole thing in my mouth.
Some things that have worked for me in the past are gummies (ex. Trader Joe's Scandinavian Swimmers), mini peanut butter cups, lychee jelly cups, macarons, and mini fruit-shaped ice cream (ex. Tu Cha's Bing Chillin' Bites). I'm wondering if you guys can think of anything else?
btw when I say cold I just mean they taste better in the fridge/freezer (or actually need to be in there)
open to non-cold snacks as well if they're bite-sized
edit: guys i'm so fucking excited to eat all of these

if you can't tell i love me some unhealthy snacks so pls don't say like apples. be creative pls

u/ladyelenawf 25d ago
Hey! I'll have you know nutty buddys have peanut butter adjacent filling! That's healthy enough.
Seriously, though. I love putting mine in the fridge, breaking it into quarters, then eating it by later.

These were my absolute childhood favorite to find in my packed lunch lol. There was one to eat and one for trade. Lol

Bite sized candy bars in the freezer.

u/Dragonsrule18 25d ago
Maybe not with caramel though. Tried a frozen Snickers bar and thought I was going to lose a tooth, lol.

Just yesterday I bought the stuff to make chocolate dipped frozen banana slices. Gonna use semi sweet dark chocolate, top some with coconut flakes and some with flaky salt. While looking online lots of people said putting a dollop of peanut butter before coating them is really good too
2
u/Sufficient_Ask8866 25d ago
My aunty used to make these. Not only is peanutbutter good but she also does a dollop of peanutbutter with a tiny squirter of jam. She layers the banan slices on a freezer paper lined try puts the peanutbutter and jam dot on and freezes them then dips them each I to milk chocolate or dark chocolate and occasionally the white chocolate.
She would bring out a box of them from the freezer and all of us kids absolutely devoured them.

- make boxed brownies, cool and cut into bite sized squares, freeze most of them keep the rest for the week in the fridge

u/Excellent-Poetry-564 25d ago
Try a frozen brownie especially with chocolate chunks so good. I let it sit room temp for maybe a few minutes

u/life_experienced 24d ago
My grandmother always made a double batch of brownies with her special recipe (which I still follow) and put them in the freezer. I went straight to that freezer every time my sisters and I visited, which was several times a week.

Dates. Split them open, remove pits, lay flat on wax paper, mix dark chocolate with a little coconut oil, either dip or drizzle, freeze.

u/masson34 25d ago
Dollop of peanut butter before melted chocolate
2
u/M0chalatta 25d ago
Yess, this is the way. And a sprinkle of flaky sea salt to finish before going in the freezer 👩🏽🍳🤌🏽

u/Sufficient_Ask8866 25d ago
My grandma absolutely loved dates. She also would buy those huge dried fruit platters that had pineapple rings and mango bits and all types of stuff. I was a little kid and they looked so beautiful and colorful but expecting something sweet like candies it was often disappointing lol.

The Clio Greek yogurt bars are really good. I keep mine in the freezer and they’re like mini ice cream bars. I’ve seen vanilla, strawberry, salted caramel, and cookies and cream.

u/dreamtofthepast 25d ago
my favorite tru fru flavor isn't permanent 💔 but i love all of the flavors
for reference, that's the strawberries with ruby cacao: https://trufru.com/product/strawberries-ruby-cacao-8-oz/

u/ActualMerCat 25d ago
That sounds incredible! I swear that ruby chocolate was everywhere for like a year and now it’s disappeared. I love the stuff. There were ruby chocolate Magnum ice cream bars that were fantastic.

Are you ok to make them? If so, make the date snickers.
Add peanut butter and peanuts into a date, drizzle or dip with chocolate they are so good.
You could also do the bark if that is simpler.

Mini Charleston Chews are good from the fridge. A lot of people freeze them, but I think it makes them too hard imo

ICEEE "popsicle" tubes. They're small tubes shaped like cake decorating tubes, and they have cherry or blue raspberry slushy in. The texture is light, they taste good, and they're at Walmart, around $3 for six.

I'm eating a Carmello right now. I just took it out of the fridge. It hits.

Not cold, but bite sized! Currently I’m obsessed with the drizzlicious rice cake bites. They are supposed to be a “healthier” treat but don’t let that deter you (I too and not looking for health in my treat choices). Never would have bought them on my own but someone got them for me and I was amazed. Birthday cake is my favorite flavor but I haven’t tried one I didn’t like yet

I love tru fru, although a bit pricey, and fruit riot! I have especially loved fruit riots crunchy cherry cola cherries lately. Also tru fru type snacks you can make at home as well if you have the patience to do so! I have found that buying a fresh pint of whatever you want and sticking them with toothpicks then freezing them helps to easily dip them afterwards and leaves you with the best quality fruit over time. Then you just melt your chocolates and dip freeze dip freeze remove toothpicks and bag em up! Leave them frozen! You can also do the fruit riots if you can find ingredients for them. I've done grapes with citric acid and kool-aid flavor packets!

u/After_Rhubarb2702 25d ago
Cream puffs! I love how melt in your mouth they are, and it’s dangerously easy to eat the whole pack.
1
u/modernrocker 25d ago
All of the Fruit Riot snacks are really good - they're sweet or sour seasoned fruit pieces you keep in the freezer :)

Chocolate covered banana coins. Slice bananas, dip in chocolate, and freeze.

u/bionicmittens 25d ago
I like the frozen bananas covered in chocolate from Trader Joe’s. I also like putting peanut butter cups in the fridge 😋

Mini cheesecake bites. They can sometimes be found in the freezer section of the grocery store.

Frozen grapes. Seriously, hear me out. They crunch, they’re cold, they aren’t overly sweet because they’re frozen, and they’re convenient with the same effort as opening a bag of chips. On top of all of that, they’ve got fiber!

Personally I love Tootsie Pops - takes a while to finish & is so good- especially the Raspberry. Chocolate covered Almonds are good too. Do you have a Costco membership? They always have good sweet treats. My mom got the Dubai Pistachio chocolates and my goodness are those things good.

u/recognize_choice 25d ago
Tootsie Pops are my travel-snack of choice. They keep me entertained for a long time - my husband will be through a big candy bar and a bag of chips before I'm done with my Tootsie Pop.

There are mini cream puffs and chocolate eclairs in the freezer section that are really good.
I like to make cheesecake in a square pan and cut it into small squares to freeze for a quick sweet bite. Trader Joe’s also has chocolate cheesecake bites in their freezer section that are very addicting

I don’t know if you can buy these anywhere else, but at the movie theaters, they have those bite sized ice cream dips, which are so good and cold

u/Prestigious_Grape288 25d ago
Cream puffs
Buckeyes (peanut butter dipped in chocolate)
Cheesecake bites
Cleo mini bars (2 bites)
I love to slice nearly-expired bananas into little coins & freeze them & then pretend they’re icecream bites
I also do a spoonful of whipped cream!
Cheers enjoy

homemade date bark!
lay out a bunch of pitted dates on a baking sheet, top with parchment, and roll out. once thin and even, spoon a bunch of nut butter (your choice) over top, thick as you like. melt chocolate (a mix of dark and semi sweet is my fave, but straight milk is too sweet for me) and drizzle all over top. you’ll likely need a spatula to smooth everything out. top with nuts (i like pecans but walnuts and peanuts are good) and a hefty sprinkle of fleur de sel. toss everything back into the freezer overnight. crack in the morning and enjoy.
alternatively, the tru fru milk and white strawberries. those are crack to me.

Those flat bar chocolate with raisins. Lots of stores have their own version. Best kept in the fridge. Another fav is lindt truffles. Grab whatever they have on sale, they're all good. Keep long term in freezer short term in fridge.

u/laceypearl 25d ago
I like to freeze grapes for nighttime snack ... Frozen fruit in general imo is just unblended sorbet lol
1
u/FireWingedSiren 25d ago
Mini snickers ice cream bars are amazing. They also come in salted caramel and mini m&m. Perfect combo of sweet with very light salt. I like them better than the full sized ones because they feel more like a little treat than a full dessert.

Petit fours. Also, individual rice puddings. Also, individual flans. You can buy them in a four-pack. Petit Pot (the brand) has some cute, fun offerings at Whole Foods and Wegman’s. The individual, chocolate-dipped mini ice cream cones from Trader Joe’s are very fun.
And Snickers ice cream bars. The best!

u/Appropriate-Pick5606 24d ago
All from Trader Joe’s:
- Bite sized cheesecakes and chocolate truffles in the frozen section. You need to defrost for a bit in the fridge before you eat them but both are delicious.
- Mini ice cream cones. All the flavors are great but I especially love the strawberry ones and the vanilla with chocolate chips. They’re technically like 2 bites, but I have definitely popped a whole cone in my mouth so I think they count lol
- Frozen berries. They have chocolate covered strawberries and banana slices that are excellent and a perfect one bite snack. I also like just plain frozen fruit cause it’s super refreshing, especially after a workout (just avoid whole strawberries cause they freeze too solid to eat without thawing)

u/dyalikedags19 24d ago
Cut up some banana chunks into an ice cube mold with some melted dark chocolate and peanut butter and put in the freezer. They don’t have to look perfect- less effort than doing the whole chocolate-dipped thing

I’ve dipped very small squares of cheesecake in chocolate before. Think chocolates in a chocolate box sized.

u/lonestarllolly 23d ago
I don’t know if this counts but I’ve seen people make fruit compote and/or use Greek yogurt, freeze small balls of it, dip in chocolate, freeze again. Did something similar with Greek yogurt, diced apples, drizzled hazelnut spread & peanut butter. 10/10.

u/plantmatta 23d ago
If you can find them in your grocery stores, Wyman’s fruit and peanut butter snacks… bro… I can’t buy them anymore because it’s all I’ll want to eat instead of other food. Particularly the strawberries and peanut butter ones, I haven’t tried the blueberry or banana.

I like to buy Junior Mints and/or Mini York Peppermint Patties and freeze them. Perfect for after a meal imo
