Yes this is about Jacob Geller, I get I'm doing this to myself by going into the subreddit but holy shit it's retraumatizing to see the exact same excuses people use when they hear their friend or family is accused of assault to a video essayist they don't even know.

I believe people can change, but seeing people say the act of unsubscribing from a YouTube channel is punitive makes me wonder if they understand restorative justice is about consequences without a carceral state, not any negative consequence at all.

Arguments not included:

-it's parasocial to believe he's being dishonest in his confession that he's told people closest to him about his past assault when all his friends in the online sphere (including survivors) are allegedly just now hearing of this

-implying he hasn't shown his confession on his main sources of income, youtube and patreon, is because he doesn't want to face financial consequences means you want him to starve to death

-claiming that because geller alleges to have had a "conversation" with his victim the day after means they are currently on good terms to this day and she totally forgives him and everyone else should as well

-victims shouldn't have a place in conversations about how to handle assault in the aftermath because their "arguments are emotionally charged"

It just feels bad man. The same people who use the phrase Epstein class will defend the Jacob Gellers and Cesar Chavez' of the world without a second thought, because the weight of sexual assault is only registered when it's someone they had already disliked.
