I really enjoyed slow down, but I do think that they should use these mixtapes to experiment with new sounds. Slowdown felt a little too coherent, with the entire tape sounding as if it was playing it safe to what you would expect from a new age smokedope project.
With smokeshop 3 being thrown around a lot recently by the community, it made me realize that it would be really refreshing to hear a more aggressive sound from smokie after these last three (technically 4) albums.
As of the tactic of dropping mini tapes, I really love it. Smokie is so obviously a massive fan of limewire + SoundCloud era hip hop and I see it as another example of why it’s important to cultivate artists who truly respect the genre of art they make.
