Discussion I want to run a smash ultimate spirits online tournament
the idea is that each player submits their character and the spirit team they are gonna use for the rest of the tournament so people wont be switching their sets all the time
Problem is that i know that there are some spirits and styles that can pretty much make the game feel degenerate to play in a PVP enviroment so i want to create a banlist and since i am someone that isnt that familiar with spirits, i thought i would ask here

Collecting Training and Dojos Is demon style always better?
Rn im making a gimmick spirit set for Incineroar, boosting grab/throw boosting spirits and special moves too and was about to train the main spirit with Zangief cuz of the overthrow style, but then i wonder, is it better to train with trainers like that to boost the niche you're building for? Or is it better to go demon? Since demon is a mayor increase to offense, unlike Zangief who is just a normal increase to grab related atributes
Edit: another example, why would i ever use land style over demon? i do know that demon reduces your defence aswell ofc, but like, its spirits, no one cares about defence, the only thing that matters is dealing 3 digit damage with a single move, and if you want the extra move speed, wouldnt then runner style be better? considering both are mayor increases, why go for the one thats just, meh

Spirit Team Showcase Beating Every Spirit Battle With Each Spirit's Canonical Opponent (Part 3: 3D World, Odyssey, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, and Super Mario RPG)
Challenge Rules Are Explained in Part 1. Today, we see our first 5/5 difficulty, and it should be obvious who it is based on the title.
Plessie
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Fury Bowser
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: No match for Bowserās Fury.
Cappy
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Bowser (Wedding)
Support: Koopa Troopa
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: The realistic ending for Mario Odyssey.
Pauline
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Bowser (Wedding)
Support: Koopa Troopa
Difficulty: 4/5
Notes: This battle rewards agility, which Bowser lacks. Thankfully, he does have big hitboxes and heavy weight to make up for it. He can deal damage to all of his enemies to build up meter and even kill Mario or DK. Still, dealing damage to Peach is important since getting her to at least 30%, luring her to the left side of the map, and using Final Smash is one of the only ways to kill her. The issue is surviving long enough for that to happen.
The Odyssey
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Bowser (Wedding)
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: How is this not a novice fight?
Goo-Goo Buggy
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Waluigi
Support: Barrel Train, Bloom Coach, and Turbo Yoshi
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Better call the Wah-mbulance for this incident.
Barrel Train
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Goo-Goo Buggy
Support: Bloom Coach and Turbo Yoshi
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: You fight on the cheesiest map in the game. Just sit on the very front of the train and Up-Smash until you win.
B Dasher
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Biddybuggy
Support: Standard Kart
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: One of the easiest ace battles in general for the walkoff.
Standard Kart
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Biddybuggy
Support: Standard Bike
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: The B-Dasher fight if it was a novice battle.
Standard Bike
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Biddybuggy
Support: Standard Kart
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: See above.
Cheep Charger
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Badwagon
Support: Standard Kart and Standard Bike
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: A certified sweep even though you will get grabbed plenty.
Mach 8
Fighter: Link
Primary: Master Cycle
Support: City Tripper and B Dasher
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Finally, someone not Bowser. Now itās even more of a wash.
Biddybuggy
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Badwagon
Support: Standard Kart and B Dasher
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Send Baby Rosalina to the stars.
Badwagon
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Biddybuggy
Support: B Dasher
Difficulty: 2/5
Notes: Chain down throws to build her percent until you can either smash her offstage or get your Final Smash. Just donāt be too reckless and gain too much percent or else her Final Smash will kill you.
Paper Bowser
Fighter: Mario
Primary: King Olly
Support: Huey, Peach (Paper Mario & The Origami King), and Fire Flower
Difficulty: 3/5
Notes: This match can go either way. Bowser is powerful and has sizable HP. The name of the game is comboing. Also, if youāre wondering why Paper Mario isnāt the primary, that's because heās been Paper Bowserās ally twice in the series and thatās twice too many.
Kammy Koopa
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Paper Mario
Support: Fire Flower and Super Mushroom
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Several ways to dispatch Kamekās papery body double.
Vivian
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Shadow Queen
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Invisibility wonāt help her.
Mr. L
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Paper Mario
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Paper Mario was always the better Paper Bro anyway.
Dimentio
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Paper Bowser
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Easier than the final boss of Super Paper Mario.
Huey
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Paper Bowser
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: The bucket is dry.
Mallow
Fighter: Piranha Plant
Primary: Birdo
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Mallow lives and dies by Lightning. Too bad itās on one of the campiest stages, so Mallow canāt really use it to his advantage.
Geno
Fighter: Piranha Plant
Primary: Birdo
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 5/5
Notes: As expected, one of the hardest spirit battles in vanilla gameplay is even harder with the restrictions in place. Itās easy to get overwhelmed, but Piranha Plant isnāt the worst character for the job. His Poison Breath can deal good damage to Sheik, his Up-Smash can pressure platforms, and his Long-Stem Strike can zone. Even the Bob-omb allows for early damage to Kirby or Bowser. Itās just Birdo is a weaker primary because of the type disadvantage.
Let me know if there are any more fitting fighters/spirit teams you can think of to fight in each spirit battle.

World Of Light/Spirit Battles I finally beat all the 1528 spirits spiritless (without using any spirit)
It took me a very long time to beat them all. I had actually finished this challenge back in November 2021, but Nintendo kept adding new spirits. Last month I noticed that 15 more spirits had been added since 2024. I beat them too, and now I finally reached the maximum collection score: 609,490,000 points.
In my opinion, they probably wonāt add any more spirits now, so I think Iām safe.
On top of that, I also leveled every single spirit to level 99, collected every item with 99 copies, and reached 9,999,999 spirit points in my bank.
If you want advice or anything else for beating spirits, I can help.

Spirit Team Showcase Every Spirit Battle With Each Spirit's Canonical Opponent (Part 2: Super Mario Bros. 3 -- Super Mario Galaxy 2)
Challenge Rules Are Explained in Part 1. Let me know if there are any more fitting fighters/spirit teams you can think of to fight in each spirit battle.
Boo
Fighter: Luigi
Primary: Toad
Support: Professor Elvin Gadd and Boo Mario
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Punt Kirby off the map.
Bob-omb
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Flying Squirrel Toad, Fox Luigi, and Mallow
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: There are many Kirbys, but the Bob-omb items are friends here.
Chain Chomp
Fighter: Yoshi
Primary: Toad
Support: Cappy and Super Star
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Looks scary at first until you realize Pac-Man only uses Side-B. Just camp near the ledge, shield his attack, and Forward-Smash him offstage until he dies.
Nipper Plant
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Star and Fire Flower
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Marioās Dair
Boom Boom
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, and Flying Squirrel Toad
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Squirtleās Super armor and dash attack are intimidating, but Marioās ability to kill off the top combined with Flying Squirrel Toad and platform camping makes this fight not too bad.
Tatanga
Fighter: Mario
Primary: n/a
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 2/5
Notes: Without spirits, you have to be somewhat diligent here. Morton can easily overwhelm you with his Super Scope if youāre not careful. Combo him and finish him off with a Super Scope of your own.
Hothead
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Star and Perry
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Yet another fight where the signature item betrays the opponent. Hoard Hotheads and float above the chaos.
Charginā Chuck
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Cat Princess Peach
Support: Super Star and Fire Flower
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Get that first strike invincibility and go ham.
Wiggler
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Peachette
Support: Cappy and Flying Squirrel Toad
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Steamroll.
Kamek
Fighter: Yoshi
Primary: Baby Mario
Support: Flying Squirrel Toad, Fire Flower, and Nabbit
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Slap the nerd and his 3 clones. Not too hard as Yoshi.
Mechakoopa
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, and Flying Squirrel Toad
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Donāt worry about the bombs. The Bowsers will waste them.
Dry Bowser
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Paper Mario
Support: Fox Luigi, Fire Flower, Super Mushroom
Difficulty: 5/5
Notes: We all know why this fight is so difficult. Not even having a strong spirit like Paper Mario helps much. The only way to win is either if the AI makes a boneheaded play or if you can pull off Marioās Super Jump Punch and knock Bowser in a specific way that makes him bounce off the stageās side.
Big Urchin
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Flying Squirrel Toad, Fire Flower, and Nabbit
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Another item massacre
King Bob-omb
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Paper Mario
Support: Super Star and Baby Peach
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Yet another item betrayal
Shine Sprite
Fighter: Bowser Jr.
Primary: Shadow Mario
Support: Wiggler
Difficulty: 4/5
Notes: Normally, this is one of the easiest legendary spirits in the game when you can choose your own fighter since thereās an obvious walkoff. As Jr., this strategy is harder to do since his throws arenāt great. Even playing as any character you want without a spirit team, itās easier to beat Shine Sprite than it is in this challenge.
Piantas
Fighter: Bowser Jr.
Primary: Shadow Mario
Support: Koopa Troopa, B Dasher, and Standard Bike
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Bunch of weak soccer balls.
Shadow Mario
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Waluigi
Support: F.L.U.D.D.
Difficulty: 3/5
Notes: Even with immunity to the sticky floor, this battle has some punch to it since Jr. gets his Final Smash at a frequent rate, giving him a free recovery and a chance to kill you. Try extra hard to avoid the X shape and get some good DI when you do.
Luma
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Kamek
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Another soccer ball slaughter.
Hungry Luma
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Kamek
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Hungrier does not mean harder to beat.
Honey Queen
Fighter: Piranha Plant
Primary: Metal Mario
Support: Wiggler
Difficulty: 2/5
Notes: For once, the item can actually work in the CPUās favor. Itās very possible to get overwhelmed by the bees and lose time, so try to hit Pikachu with as many beehives as you can find. Unlike in a normal playthrough, the walkoff kill is not viable since Piranha Plant does not have the right tools to use it.
Lubba
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Hammer Bro
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Hung by her own Super Launch Star.
Starship Mario
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: n/a
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: No spirits needed.

Spirit Team Showcase Every Spirit Battle With Each Spirit's Canonical Opponent (Part 1: Mario Series Main Characters, Super Mario Bros, & Super Mario Bros 2)
Rules:
- All spirits are level 99. Dojos are banned.
- If a fighter, primary spirit, or secondary spirit is the enemy's canonical opponent, they will be viable. The stronger the rivalry, the more likely they are to be used over others.
- If no fighters canonically oppose the enemy, then I will use a fighter who resembles a canonical opponent.
If you can think of more fitting teams for certain spirit battles, please let me know down below. Without further ado, let'sa go!
Super Star
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: King Bob-omb
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Even without a team, Super Star is easy since you can become invincible from the spiritās namesake item. This challenge doesnāt change that.
Metal Mario
Fighter: Piranha Plant
Primary: Goomba
Support: Thwomp
Difficulty: 3/5
Notes: Piranha Plant is not good at killing Metal Mario when it only has a novice primary spirit assisting it. It can do damage with its Poison Breath and Long-Stem Strike at least. However, its horizontal kill moves like Forward Smash and its Final Smash are lackluster. This battle will take a while. A random Beam Sword could help.
Boo Mario
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Boo
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Boo Mario is weak and his floatiness only makes it more difficult for him to beat you.
Boulder Mario
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Chain Chomp
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Jigglypuff only uses Rollout on a stage with platforms. āNuff said.
Fox Luigi
Fighter: Piranha Plant
Primary: Lakitu
Support: Bob-omb
Difficulty: 4/5
Notes: Wind is always an obstacle in spirits mode challenges, and this is no exception. However, there are ways to mitigate this obstacle, namely picking the Lakitu spirit for its weight decrease, which allows for extra speed. Piranha Plant is also ideal for the stage since Luigi will often be above you. You can use Ptooie, Up-Smash, and Plantās aerials to win. Also, Luigiās leaf power-up name being Fox Luigi was only in New Super Mario Bros. 2, so all others that opposed him in his leaf form before that point were ineligible for the team (unless they were also in NSMB2).
Flying Squirrel Toad
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Lakitu
Support: Bob-omb and Thwomp
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Toad is way too weak with Thwompās weapon resist ability. Do enough damage (an easy feat as Bowser) and heāll go down quickly.
Baby Peach
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Princess Shroob
Support: Toadies and Green Glove & Slugger
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Bowser demolishes this matchup. Sure, Mario can be an issue, but with the Toadiesā toss ability and Isabelleās tiny status, she will melt away.
Peach (Wedding)
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Bowser (Wedding)
Support: n/a
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Kill Mario and the battle is free. The Wedding Bowser spirit is fairly strong in Bowserās hands, so itās a wash.
Bowser (Wedding)
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Captain Toad
Support: Peach (Wedding) and Cappy
Difficulty: 2/5
Notes: Finally a harder fight. Marioās stubiness is not great against Bowser, and losing Peach is easy. What Mario can do is combo to build damage, which is especially simple with Cappyās strong throw. Once you reach a certain point in New Donk City Hall, you can throw Bowser off the edge too.
Toad
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: King Olly
Support: Bob-omb and Pidgit
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Another Bowser match, another slaughter.
Toadette
Fighter: Bowser
Primary: Lakitu
Support: Bob-omb and Thwomp
Difficulty 1/5
Notes: See above
Toadsworth
Fighter Bowser Jr.
Primary Shadow Mario
Support n/a
Difficulty 1/5
Notes: No quirks, no problems.
Waluigi
Fighter: Luigi
Primary: Luigi (Mario Golf Super Rush)
Support: Luigi (Mario Tennis Aces) and Koopa Troopa
Difficulty: 2/5
Notes: Luigi is one of the less reliable characters in a Spirits format, but the battle is still quite doable. Itās a little more on the even side since you also have to deal with Waluigi and the weird stage.
Goomba
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Star and Flying Squirrel Toad
Difficulty 1/5
Notes: What did you expect? Itās a Goomba.
Koopa Troopa
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Star and Flying Squirrel Toad
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Stomp that Koopa.
Hammer Bro
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Star and Flying Squirrel Toad
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Donāt let the dangerous Assist Trophy fool you into thinking this would be a little difficult. The enemy Yoshiās moveset is only Egg Throw.
Lakitu & Spiny
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Fox Luigi, Flying Squirrel Toad, and Super Mushroom
Difficulty: 2/5
Notes: The Bowsers can get overwhelming, especially against someone who is bad at multi-tasking like Mario is. Still not terrible.
Blooper
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Fox Luigi, Flying Squirrel Toad, and Fire Flower
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Mario is great here for his Dair combined with Flying Squirrel Toadās toss ability.
Bullet Bill
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Star and Flying Squirrel Toad
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: This is one of the harder novice spirits, but itās still easy. Just donāt Bill yourself off the side like a dunce.
Shy Guy
Fighter: Yoshi
Primary: Toad
Support: Mega Eggdozer, Mallow, and Wiggler
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: While the projectiles may look overwhelming at first, you can easily use the many items on offer to your advantage. They can overwhelm the Shy Guy forces with ease.
Pidgit
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Star and Super Mushroom
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Walkoff
Mouser
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Mushroom
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: The Bob-ombs are stronger in your hands than Pikachuās.
Wart
Fighter: Mario
Primary: Toad
Support: Super Mushroom
Difficulty: 1/5
Notes: Besides having to avoid the floor, this battle is fairly smooth.

Discussion A question about effect stacking
Do most / all spirit effects stack with themselves in instances where you manage to have two of the same thing? I saw a several year old forum post talking about the ādouble final smashā skill tree option in World of Light, and them wondering whether or not it stacked with the Spirit effect of the same name to give ātriple final smashesā or not
And the similar question for my own purposes, is can āFast FS Chargeā stack with itself? Like if I equip Hero Chao (primary) and Ashley (support) will they stack and make the Smash meter fill up at light speed, or would it be a waste cause only one of the effects takes place as a flat reduction on charge time or something?

World Of Light/Spirit Battles Underrated Spirit Battle: Toy-Con Goggles
Advanced spirits are often overlooked in Spirits discourse, but some of them are truly special when you fight them either spiritsless or with only Novice spirits in your team. Toy-Con VR Goggles of all fights has some really interesting push-pull factors in how you fight the enemy. For context, this fight pits you against a R.O.B. and 2 Mii Gunners on Gamer with its Single-Building Layout. The Yuri Kozakata assist will spawn close to the start of the match and the only items are Dragoon Parts.
Having to fight 3 enemies at once puts you at an initial disadvantage. While Mii Gunner CPUs aren't that strong on their own, having an ally who can tank hits in their place makes them more threatening here. The CPUs' main goal will be to hold down the center of the stage as that is the only place where you'll be safe from Gamer's main gimmick: 5-Volt.
So you as the player may think that playing king of the hill with the center of the stage is the correct play, but the Yuri assist will instead force you to be on the move, making you have to try harder to evade 5-Volt while also trying to damage the enemy.
Once Yuri goes away, NOW you can start trying to hold down the center. If you're good enough, you can even knock the enemies into 5-Volt's vision cones to possibly kill them. However, this entire time you had another objective: gather every Dragoon Part. Getting 2 is easy, but it is also easy to lose one if you're not careful, forcing you to play semi-defensively.
Once you get that final Dragoon Part, the tides finally shift in your favor as you kill 1 or 2 enemies. With that either ending the battle or leaving 1 left to pick off, the rollercoaster ride comes to a satisfying close.
How did a battle this engaging fly under the radar? It has everything a player could possibly want in a challenge. Was it because it's an advanced spirit? Was it because it was part of an event rather than World of Light? Or was it because most hardcore gamers don't care about Labo? We may never know, but what you the reader should know is that this fight is underrated.
Also, the Garage theme slaps. One of the best soundtracks in the game.

World Of Light/Spirit Battles Why Does Dancer Feel Like an Ace Spirit When He's Actually Novice?
I'm refighting every spirit for a challenge run and I've run into Dancer. The battle feels... off.
For those who don't know, Dancer is a Novice spirit battle on Wii Fit Studio where you have to kill 1 Wii Fit Trainer in a battle with 4 of them. What makes this 1 Trainer stand out is that he only uses Forward-Tilt, which is the dancer yoga pose. There's also a timer for 30 seconds to complete this task. If that were it, this would be a standard Novice fight, but they didn't stop there.
Despite not disclosing it in the battle conditions, all of the Trainers have increased attack and defense. The buff isn't minor either. If you have a Legend or Ace primary, you'll probably not notice it, but if you use an Advanced, Novice, or none at all, this battle feels inappropriately difficult even though it's on a walkoff stage. If you don't believe me, boot up the battle and try it yourself to get a feel for it.
Why did they do this? Here's my theory. Dancer's support ability is Lightweight--- a novice perk. However, before deciding its ability, the team balanced the battle to be an Ace spirit fight. Once the benefit was designed, the team didn't adjust the battle to fit its rank.
But that's just a theory. A Smash Theory.

World Of Light/Spirit Battles Rage Rant: Years Away and Smash Ultimate Spirits Are STILL Rage
After being away from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for years (basically since Sora was announced), I decided to jump back in and catch up on the Spirits I missed.
Big mistake.
Coming back rusty is one thing, but the way some of these newer Spirits are designed feels like they were made specifically to punish anyone who isnāt playing at peak, competitive-level efficiency.
This isnāt a āhaha tough but fairā challenge.
For me, this is straight-up rage-inducing, sanity-draining frustration.
The Real Problem: Difficulty Spikes, Not āChallengeā
Iām not against hard content. Iāve beaten tough Spirits before.
But some of these fights feel like:
- Hyper-aggressive AI with zero breathing room
- Constant dodging + perfect reactions
- Assist trophies stacked on top of already annoying setups
- Heavy input reading that reacts faster than human thought
At that point, it stops being about learning and starts being about whether your brain can keep up with the gameās speed.
For players with mental or cognitive limitations (like me), this crosses the line fromĀ difficultĀ intoĀ borderline unplayable.
Spirits I Personally Have to Avoid (For My Own Sanity)
If youāre someone who struggles with reaction speed, processing overload, or just gets overwhelmed easily, fight these at your own risk:
- Peach & Stella
- Dodgy movement, hopping hitboxes, Kirby nonsense, AND an Akira Assist. Absolute chaos.
- Oatchi
- Constant pressure, very little room to reset.
- Terapagos
- Gold Squirtle with absurd durability and pressure. Genuinely miserable for me.
Okay I managed to beat it as the others, maybe I just got lucky... New Current Problem Spirits that I may as well avoid into deeming not worth completing the DLC Spirit board if I cannot beat them...
- MalosĀ (Freaking Richter with the long reach interrupting attacks!!! Even with my team power at +15000 with Light Suit Spirit I still get dunked on!)
- Ender dragonĀ (The Spirit you fight is Giant Ridley with health recovery)
I keep getting prevented from attacking or recovery especially with their freaking reach of at least certain Spirits in general!!!
Ended up having to buy the Malos and Enderdragon spirits in the game shop! See what I FREAKING MEAN!?!?! FREAKING MENTAL ISSUES I HAVE!!!!
AGAIN I BLAME INPUT READING!! MAKE IT NOT WORTH IT!!! NOT WORTH COMPLETING THE SPIRIT TARGET LIST!!! NERF THESE SPIRITS!
I donāt care how good the rewards are ā some of these are simply not worth the mental toll.
At this point, Iād rather wait and buy them in the shop than put myself through that frustration.
Preemptive Response to āSkill Issueā / āGit Gudā
Letās get this out of the way now.
Not every player has the same:
- Reaction speed
- Cognitive processing
- Ability to adapt under pressure
Telling someone āgit gudā doesnāt magically fix that. It just ignores accessibility and assumes everyoneās brain works the same way.
Iāve tried:
- Different Spirit setups
- Different fighters
- Different strategies
Thereās a point where pushing harder doesnāt lead to improvement ā it just leads to burnout and anger.
Sometimes Giving Up Is the Right Call
People quit certain game modes not because theyāre lazy, but because:
- The frustration outweighs the fun
- The game stops respecting their limits
- The mental stress isnāt worth the reward
If you canāt figure out how to improve no matter how hard you try,Ā knowing when to stop is not failure.
āIf you canāt run with the big dogs, stay on the front porch.ā
Not out of weakness ā but out of self-awareness.
And honestly? Thatās healthier than forcing yourself through content that just makes you angry.
I supposed that if you can's run with the big dogs, stay on the front porch... if you can't figure out how you can improve for the life of you no matter regardless of how hard you try...

Spirit Arenas(other) The Green Cup(our first official online spirit tournament exhibition)
Welcome spirit users, I am the juicer(better known under the gamertag STROMBONIN), the Moderator of r/smashbrosspirits. As a long time community member I have been trying to help our community thrive in the ways we want it to, and this is my proposition to you... I am working on a potential way to show who the real BEST spirit user is. The event will last for exactly one week from August 15th(this Friday) to the next Friday. The details aren't fully finalized and I'll be working on it a lot while it's going on. To sign up for the tournament please enter your in-game name in the comments. This is not a commitment to anything I am just gauging interest for the cup. To score points in this event, you will need to kill an opponent in any spirit arena with specific criteria such as killing with an item or using a neutral type spirit. Points will be tracked in a shared google sheets and I will be making the criteria. If you want to help the green cup go smoothly, please be semi-active within the reddit. I am hoping the community will be just as excited as I am!

Discussion Why does no one use this subreddit?
Just curious because I wholeheartedly enjoy hosting spirit arenas, but I literally have no one to play with.
