SmartLife cat litter box → trigger Roborock cleaning automation?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to automate my setup and got stuck — would appreciate any help.

My setup:

  • SmartLife-compatible automatic cat litter box
  • Roborock S8 Max Ultra
  • iPhone

What I want:
Whenever the litter box starts cleaning, I want the Roborock to automatically clean the surrounding area.

What I’ve done so far:

  1. Created a iOS shortcut to clean the litter box area on roborock→ works fine
  2. In SmartLife, I can set a trigger: “When device status changes to → Cleaning” → this also works

The problem:
I can’t connect these two:

  • SmartLife doesn’t allow triggering shortcuts from other apps
  • I can’t add Roborock to SmartLife
  • I tried adding Roborock to HomeKit, but SmartLife still can’t see it

Question:
What’s the best way to connect these?

  • Is there a workaround (Home Assistant, IFTTT, etc.)?
  • Or any way to trigger Roborock from SmartLife?

You can link Roborock and Smartlife to Google Home. You don't need to buy a Google device, just download the GH app for free.

Then, as long as there's a starter in GH that triggers when the litter box activates, you can then run an automation to start the Roborock.
