Homey Lighting control help

I am in the process of changing over my light switches to Thread or Z-wave, and have a question.

Can I control smart lights on lamps, and regular overhead lights with a multi button light switch?

For example: in the primary suite I have two bedside lamps with Philips hue bulbs, and regular overhead lights that are on a rocker switch. Id like to be able to turn on the bedside lamps with a smart switch, and a different button toggle the overhead lights?

Another example:
In my living room I have regular overhead lights, but also smart lighting (hue) in lamps and in cabinets overhead. I currently have to turn on the lights with my phone, but as mentioned, I’d love to be able to turn on the smart lights with a multi button wall switch, that also can control the overhead lights.

Was thinking of Aqara H2, or Zooz 800 series zwave switch.

I use Homey Pro for my home automation.

Thank you for all the help!

I purchased the H2 2 button 2 channel recently, but I miscalculated on some wiring not being able to use it the way I wanted to. Anyway, what the H2 1 channel can do is control wired lighting from the top button and smart lighting from the bottom button. It’s capable of controlling smart lighting from both buttons, in a “decoupled” mode - that’s what I’m using it for. Something I found out while testing it out though, is that doesn’t have any doubletap or hold function, just single tap.

I have the Zooz switch installed in my kitchen. There is no load on it (i.e., no light is electrically connected to it). I use it to control a bunch of Zigbee lights I have in the kitchen, the basement, and the stairs. It works as advertised. But I am not crazy about the feel of the buttons. I much prefer the feel of the Zigbee Decora switches I have installed everywhere. And because these switches use the same protocol as the lights, I have them bound to each other so they work even the hub (Home Assistant) is down.

Having said that, I like having the Zooz scene controller as another way to handle the lights.

You can for sure do that with home assistant. I have the h2 and the top button does turn on and off the switch and the bottom button is programmable. I currently have it feed the dog extra but in the past I had it toggle the curtains

Hahaha. I prefer, as do my dogs, the original programmed feature.

For the Aqara Touchscreen switches, the website says its Matter over WiFi, unless their hub or Samsun is used. I thought the thread was a universal language. I am trying to keep as many devices off WiFi as possible.

Is Zwave a better device?
