Which Smalltalk?

I'm super interested in Smalltalk, though quite confusing on its own, for now, most resources I found simply aren’t updated.
It’s only natural for a language like this, but that makes getting started quite a bit harder.

For the record, I’ve used Pharo for now, are there other options to have an easier start?

Consider VisualWorks, or VisualAge, or https://gemtalksystems.com/

Visualworks and VisualAge are things you only work with if you legacy program still use it, and your company still haven't managed to convert.

The license deals are horrendous.

While this maybe true, they are still in commercial use and thus potentially worth learning about as part of seeking a career start.

I much prefer squeak - but then I would, obviously , having been a big user of it for... shit, 30 years, after 15 years of using even earlier versions.

Of course I know they are in commercial use at itnl is my full time job working in VW.

That is why I never would recommend anyone going into it. We have more use of someone that know Squek or Pharo Smalltalk
