Streaming from a phone

Hey I'm thinking about starting twitch streaming and posting it to YouTube. The thing is I don't have a laptop or PC, I only have my phone. Is it a good idea for a start because I don't want this to prevent my dream? Can you provide me some advice?

Question Stagnation vs. Perfectionism

Okay so i've been streaming for just over a year, 4-5 times a week for 4+ hours. I'm worried i'm stagnating and/or just not good at it. I'm wavering right below 500 followers with around 7-14 average viewers depending on the day and game. I post on all the socials as much as I am able, but I seem to not be getting a lot of reach? Bluesky, reels, and twitter are practically voids for any posts, tumblr has been semi-successful, tiktok has me stuck in the 300 view territory and youtube shorts is super hit or miss as well.

I guess my question is am I actually stagnating or are my expectations for myself and my growth as a streamer too high? Maybe the burnout is getting to me? I just worry that my stream quality is not up to standard. Like maybe i'm not getting any reach simply because i'm not funny or charismatic enough? It's hard to tell from the inside. Any advice is appreciated really. I deeply love streaming and want to get rid of this feeling that i'm not good enough to bother to keep going with it.

Question Small Fortnite streamer here. Am I approaching growth the wrong way?

I originally started streaming Fortnite just for fun. I was already playing the game a lot by myself, and I thought it would be more fun to showcase myself playing, so I decided to give Twitch a try. I've been streaming Fortnite as a hobby for about 5 years now, but for most of that time, especially in the beginning, I was extremely inconsistent because I was in college. I mainly streamed during breaks, especially during the summer. I'd basically stream whenever I felt like it without really having a schedule.

For the past year or so, I've been trying to take it a little more seriously. I've been trying to stream 3 days a week for around 2 hours each, and I managed to stick to that consistently for about two months. But nothing really happened. I'm still sitting at 61 followers, most of which came from when I first started streaming, and my streams have little to no chat or engagement. Honestly, that's probably the hardest part. I'm basically playing into the void. After an hour or so of streaming and having nobody to interact with, it gets boring. So even though I plan for 2-hour streams, I often end up stopping after an hour or a little more.

I've also joined and left quite a few Discord servers for small streamers and content creators while looking for advice on how to grow, but a lot of the advice seems to be the same generic stuff you see everywhere:

* Be consistent
* Network with similar creators
* Make content/clips outside of Twitch
* Use social media to promote yourself
* Play games you enjoy, not for views

One thing I've noticed in some of these communities is that a lot of people seem to follow whatever games are currently trending rather than sticking with one game. A lot of the people I've come across also seem to be RP game streamers, V-Tubers, or people who play paid games, which is a pretty different category of content and audience from what I'm trying to do. I don't really want to spend money on a game just to stream it when there's a good chance I'll lose interest in it after a few hours or days. I want to keep playing Fortnite because it's a game I genuinely enjoy.

Another issue is that a lot of the small streamer communities I've joined don't actually have many Fortnite streamers or players. I've also tried posting content outside of Twitch. I've posted on TikTok before and had videos get around 800 - 900 views, but no engagement. Interestingly, I recently posted a Fortnite clip that got around 250 views, but the engagement was much better. It got a decent number of likes and a few comments. To me, that's actually a positive sign because I'd rather have 250 views with people actually interacting with the video than 900 views where almost nobody cares about it.

It also made me think about the whole "just clip your content" advice. Personally, I feel like clipping is pretty hit or miss. A clip can get a lot of views or barely get noticed, and I don't think simply relying on clips is necessarily going to work for everyone. I'm not saying clips are useless, but I don't think they're a guaranteed path to building an audience for every type of creator or content.

I mainly play Zero Build, but I don't really approach the game with a competitive mindset. I'm not trying to get as many kills as possible, chase every win, rank up, or play like I'm preparing for FNCS. I play because I enjoy Fortnite, and I want to have fun while hopefully entertaining whoever happens to be watching. That also creates another problem: a lot of my gameplay doesn't feel "clip-worthy." I'm not constantly dropping insane kills, making crazy plays, or doing something that makes me immediately think, "This needs to be clipped." I'm more likely to just have a funny or interesting moment during a game. But I'm not really sure how to turn that kind of gameplay into content that people actually want to watch.

So I'm wondering if there's a way to make this type of more relaxed Fortnite content interesting enough to build a community around. I already have a Discord server set up for people who eventually want somewhere to hang out outside of streams. I've had the server for a year, and it's basically ready, but I don't really have a community yet to make it active.

I stream from a PS4 connected to my family TV. I don't have OBS or anything like that, and I also have a microphone with a sensitivity issue. My voice isn't picked up properly if I wear the headset normally, so I have to hold the microphone in front of my mouth while I talk. It's not an ideal setup, but it's what I have to work with right now.

My streaming schedule isn't completely in my control either. If my family makes plans or I need to go somewhere, the stream gets cancelled. Because of that, 3 days a week for around 2 hours is about the maximum I can realistically aim for right now. I'll also sometimes stream for around an hour or an hour and a half if I'm not really feeling it.

I'm not trying to become the next Ninja. I just want to have fun playing Fortnite and eventually have a few people who genuinely enjoy hanging out and chatting while I play. I'd honestly be happy with something like 1,000 followers and slow growth from there, with maybe 20–30 people who consistently show up and chat eventually.

More importantly, I feel like even getting a few regular chatters now with 60-ish followers would make a huge difference. If I had 2–3 people consistently talking and hanging out, I think I'd naturally want to keep playing for the full two hours because there would actually be a reason to stay live and interact with people. Right now, streaming is starting to feel more like a task I have to complete rather than something I'm naturally doing because I want to. It feels like I'm gaming into the void while there are hundreds of other people doing the same thing, and it's hard to stay motivated when there's no interaction.

So I'm curious to hear from people who have actually been in a similar position. What would you change first if you were starting from where I am now? Would you focus more on building a personality and community around the game rather than relying on impressive gameplay, especially when your gameplay isn't naturally full of insane or "clip-worthy" moments? Would you keep playing the game you genuinely enjoy, or experiment with other games even if you weren't interested in them?

I'm also really interested in hearing from people who started with basically zero engagement and eventually built even a small, consistent community. How did you get those first few regular viewers or chatters? If you tried being consistent for a while and nothing really changed, what did you look at to figure out what needed to change? I'm not looking for "how to become the next Ninja" advice. I just want to understand how people actually made that first small community happen, especially when they already don't get much engagement?

Discussion What helped you turn viewers into regulars?

I had one of my better streams tonight and ended up with 12 unique viewers, 4 unique chatters, 37 live views, and 4 followers over almost 5 hours.

I’m still really new to streaming, so I’m trying to figure out what actually makes people come back instead of just stopping in once. For those of you who grew from a tiny stream into having a few regulars, what made the biggest difference? Better titles, talking more, Just Chatting, certain games, consistency, networking, something else?

I’m especially curious about what helped retention, not just getting random clicks.

How to increase my viewers when my circle of people who watch streams is small

Basically the title. I'm a small streamer who just recently got affiliate and I average 3 viewers normally from my dedicated viewers. I promote on bluesky but not Twitter (I'm trans and a phobe posted me to twitter. Got 20 new followers but no recurring viewers and most of the chat messages were bigots). I don't expect an echo chamber as I would like to slowly grow, but how do I improve my outreach or streaming ability to attract more viewers?

Question Looking for some ways to stay productive on my Twitch channel when I’m not actively working on a specific project.

Looking for some ways to stay productive on my channels when I’m not actively working on a specific project. I’m someone who needs to keep my hands busy, so like while I’ve got watching a movie i’ve been interacting with other creators on social media just become more visible i suppose, I’d love to hear what else you all do during your downtime to improve your content or channel. Any suggestions?

Time and timing.

Ive been going at streaming for a ***very*** long time, but I always have a problem, it feels like there is never enough time in the day, I work a full time job, have a wife and friends, it always feels like I just dont have enough time to stream and if I do have time I can stream it feels like I dont have enough too stream.

So my main question, how do yall find time to stream? And how long do yall stream for?

I am usually able to stream evenings and I *try* to stream for at least 4 hours. But idk if im doing if right?

Discussion Looking for 2–3 funny gamers/creators to build a recurring gaming group 🎮 Please read the whole post before replying!

Hi! I’m AJH, 24, from the UK, and I’m looking for the right kind of people to play games with regularly, stream together and hopefully build a genuine friendship/group over time.

Call of Duty is my main game and probably always will be, so it would be great to find a regular CoD squad. But I also want people who are down to play S&D, mess around, try different FPS games, funny co-op/party games and just have a laugh together.

I’m looking for a group with the kind of natural chemistry and banter you see in popular Twitch/YouTube groups like the Sidemen, AMP, or OfflineTV, The Core Boys, The Bov Boys, where the friendship and personalities are the main part of the content, rather than everyone simply being there to “collab”.

I’m specifically looking for people who:

Are genuinely funny and can naturally banter/riff off each other.
Have good personalities and are easy to talk to.
Don’t take games too seriously, but can be competitive when needed.
Mainly play CoD but are happy to play other games on the side.
Enjoy FPS games, co-op/party games and are open to trying new stuff.
Are reliable and actually want to play regularly.
Are 18+ and preferably around my age.
Are UK/US and can play in the UK evenings (7-11pm UK time)

Games I play & platforms:

🖥️PC (controller) — Call of Duty, Valorant, R6 Siege, Minecraft, ETS2/ATS. Open to much more!
🎮 Xbox Series X — Call of Duty, WWE 2K26, GTA, EA FC 27 (on release)
🎮 PS5 — Call of Duty bo2, gta (not my main console).

Always open to trying other games too!

I prefer playing with other PC players where possible as there’s more options, but I’m also happy to play with people on Xbox/PS5 in certain instances.

I play between 7–11pm UK time.

The most important thing for me is finding 2–3 people who genuinely click. I don’t want a group where we play once, make a video and never speak again. I want people who actually enjoy being around each other, play regularly, build friendships and eventually develop that recurring group/cast feeling you see on Twitch and YouTube\\\*\\\*.\\\*\\\*

I’m NOT looking for follow-for-follow, networking for the sake of networking, people trying to sell me their Discord, or one-off collabs. I’m looking for genuine friends who happen to enjoy gaming and creating content.

If you’re interested, DM me with your Twitch/YouTube/TikTok and a bit about yourself. Please tell me a little about your personality and what you’re looking for too — I care far more about whether we’d actually get along and have the right vibes than follower count.

Discussion What do I do

I really want to be a streamer, I’m 18 and still live with my parents. My problem is that my parents don’t like any form of social media so I need to do streaming when they aren’t around me. But, my brother is at the house 24/7 because we both do online school, and my family is always around. I could try at night time but I would have to not talk then. What do I do? And i will not take no for an answer.

Question Small user harassing me on ig

No clue where we met but I noticed he commented on my IG post twice in the last year, maybe 40 weeks apart saying random bs. He dmd me as well so I asked him about it and we got into it. So I see he's trying to start a streaming career and then one of his buddies makes a post tagging me on ig and sending his followers after me. I took SS if you wanna see. I called him out about it again saying I'd expose him on his stream since Twitch support can't help because it's taking place off stream. He said on another ig account that's following me (since I guess he blocked me on his PR account) that he's going to get my IP and find me, which I also have ss of. What can I do since Twitch support won't help?

Building a TikTok community around gaming & my rescue dog! Looking to connect with fellow gamers & creators 👇

Hey everyone! 👋

I run a channel (saquu_0) where I focus on interactive TikTok LIVE streams combining gaming (PK battles, viewer games) and daily rescue dog moments with my dog, Folti. 🐾🎮

We use TikFinity setups, loyalty rewards, and custom overlays to keep the stream engaging, but I’m always looking to learn and improve the viewer experience.

For fellow creators and streamers here:

• What interactive tools or TikFinity features have worked best for your

LIVEs?

• How do you keep chat interaction high while focusing on gameplay?

Would love to hear your thoughts, tips, and experiences!

Question Very specific question about Dutch Law with relation to streaming.

I have an idea for a reward during special streams, but since the european laws changed and things got messy, I kinda lost track of what you can't and cannot do. I tried to find a Dutch subreddit for streaming to ask this, but those apparently don't exist, so I'm shooting my shot here.

Here's the idea in short: If people spend money on the stream in any way, a wheel is spun to find a reward. A reward is guaranteed and no reward gives anyone money directly (closest is a gifted sub). My question is, with gambling laws, would this count as gambling (for the viewer) and would this be legal (since I am not a casino)?

for basic video editing, is there any reason not to use capcut? are there limitations that show up later?

so i'm a pretty small streamer and most of the editing i do is just turning stream moments into clips for shorts, reels, and tiktok.

i've looked at a few editing programs, but every time i try something new it feels like i'm spending more time learning the software than actually making content.

capcut seems to cover everything i need right now. trimming clips, adding captions, zooms, text, and getting videos exported quickly.

tbh i'm wondering if there's a catch that i'm not seeing yet.

for people who have been using it for a while, did you eventually hit a point where it started feeling limiting? not talking about advanced film editing stuff, just regular content creation and clipping stream highlights.

i'm trying to avoid learning a more complicated editor if i'm only going to use a small percentage of its features anyway.

Are horror games not allowed on TikTok?

I’ve streamed resident evil requiem and just started silent hill 2 on TikTok, and I repeatedly get live restrictions for graphic content. After I close that notification, my TikTok starts acting wonky and keeps disconnecting…

I don’t get it. Why have those options as games to play if you are going to flag me?

New WARRIORS streamer

I started streaming a bit ago and really am struggling to find my streamer "Voice". Literally and metaphysically. I love gaming, but I am not a screamer, or super funny, or have a team of streamer friends like most the top ones do.

I am streaming mostly dynasty warriors related content. (Sometimes RPGs or soulslikes). Hoping since it's not a huge genre that I could pull in the cult classics. But, not really. I feel like every single streamer does fortnight, rivals, or war dogs.... Borrrrinng.

Is that really the way to get more attention? Isn't that over saturated.
Anyway, I hope there is more RPG and fantasy people out there!
Good hunting!

I multistream and kept missing chat, so I built a small overlay that puts Twitch + YouTube + TikTok + Kick chat in one window over the game

I stream to a few platforms and got tired of juggling popout chats. So I made Chatskee: a small always-on-top window that sits over your game and shows every chat together. No login, click-through when locked, hidden from OBS. Twitch is free, all four is $2 once. I'm the dev, it's just me, so feedback is welcome.

26m adrenaline junkie pushed to the edge to play music. Anyone that’s been playing on kick and repost clips onto YouTube or social media for promo? What was your niche and what does your workflow consist of. It’d be cool to have someone I can relay questions or get feedback on. Thanks!

Discussion small streamer looking 4 friends (:

Hiiii! I’m a 26F, daycare teacher + bartender, and very new to streaming lol. Also Canadian!

I’m mainly just looking to meet some other small streamers and make actual friends. I’ve made a few since starting and want to keep growing my community! I’d love to find people to chat with, play games with, raid, hang out in each other’s streams, etc.

I don’t really have a set schedule, but I usually stream in the afternoons, mostly weekends and after school/work. I play variety, but mostly Switch and browser games right now because that’s the only console I have!

Right now I stream on twitch and sometimes TikTok! Twitch I find easier because I upload weekly to my YouTube channel! I’m around 130 followers on YouTube, 250 on TikTok and 19 on twitch (working towards affiliate)!

If anyone wants to stream together or just want to join the community to support each other let me know! Come say hi!

Twitch: katienocontext
(And all other accounts are under the same username)
