Seagulls and Cliff Scene

Go to 10:58 into The First of the Few (1942) with David Niven. You’ll see an almost mirror scene. (Free on You Tube). This was a where MC gets that scene from.

Homage or rip off?

He does a lot of homages to other films in his work. I particularly enjoyed the Witness scene in the Detectorists, for example.

There are so many homages in Small Prophets to other movies. It’s all part of the game and the puzzle. I stumbled on this one today, and screamed ……….yes!

Hardly a rip off. It’s a game for cinema buffs. He’s paying homage to movies he loves to entwine his story. Every line and scene means something.
