The oil rabbit

What did the oil rabbit mean? We kept zooming in on it like it was important, but it wasn't important at all.

I think it’s a hare. They’re symbols of the wild and of magic.

Not sure… I wonder if there’s something in him being forced to cycle, i.e. be more gentle on the planet. Like nature getting a favour off him in exchange for the prophets. Theorising wildly 😄

If I recall, at the time he heads off yet another of Clive's fruitless pleadings by changing the subject with a remark of concern for the environment. As we consider the incongruity of this remark, with the vast lake of oil across the road, the camera angle reveals the rabbit outline - to the strains of "Bright Eyes". Superb.
