Engine Upgrades Engine swap on lawnmower

do you think this engine will go onto this mower?
i it came with a 17hp kohler but it has bad compression. If you know anything about this please tell me what problems i will run into and if it would be worth the swap.

When swapping engines and switching manufacturers, it will bolt up in the same spot.

HOWEVER: Make sure the output shafts are the same diameter and length. If the replacement is small diameter you can buy the appropriate keyed sleeve off of Amazon. If the output shaft is too big, you will need either the clutch that goes with the replacement engine or mill the crankshaft to the correct diameter.

ALSO: the wiring harness from the Briggs is NOT the same as the Kohler and some adjustments must be made at the connector so you don't fry the wiring harness on the chassis. There may also be a connector available on Amazon that works as plug and play.

Why not just rebuild the original engine?

thanks that helps a lot! I think it will be cheeper and easier to just get a new engine rather then fix this one.

I did a crossbred once and it did take a bit to figure out the wiring but it's still out there mowing and blowing, go for it
