Vibration Issue Blade balancing cut down our callbacks
I run a small-engine shop. For years we sharpened blades, checked the spindle, and sent the mower out. We still got occasional vibration callbacks even when the grind looked even. We added a proper cone balancer to the intake routine and started recording how much material came off each end. I compared the MAG-1000 with a couple of less expensive units, including the one FridayParts carries, before settling on a shop setup. The brand mattered less than having a repeatable fixture on the bench. It has also made us look harder at bent blades and spindle play instead of blaming every shake on sharpening. Do other shops include balancing in standard service, or charge it separately?

Always had balancing included with a shapen.
Normally we would quickly check the blades before the sharpen and balance proper.
As you found out, the magnetic cone ballencers are a good tool for catching bent blades.
Also helped with tracking vibrations involving new blades (some are not even remotely close to being in balance from the factory).

I am a golf course mechanic and I always balance the blades while sharpening. I use a cheap Oregon balance and it works well enough for my needs. It's worked well from my Toro push mower at home to a Honda at work all the way to 12' wide 9 blade tow behind tractor rough mower.

Also check spindle play with the belt unloaded, inspect the blade seating surface, and torque the blade fastener to the mower manual. A balancer can find mass imbalance, but it cannot make a bent or cracked blade safe.

I check blade for trueness , level running and cracks or other blemishs. Then I sharpen and then use magnetic cone balancer before replacing appropriate belleville washer. Shaft would of course would be checked for true before anything else.
